Safari summary
This is a scenic Amboseli safari, taking you southeast of Nairobi into one of Africa’s most celebrated wildlife parks. Located about 240 kilometers from the capital, Amboseli National Park is crowned by the snow-capped Mount Kilimanjaro, the tallest free-standing mountain in the world and Africa’s highest peak.
Named from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust,” Amboseli is Kenya’s second most visited park, and for good reason. It’s one of the best places in Africa to see large herds of elephants up close, including Craig, the park’s legendary 53-year-old tusker who survived decades of poaching and is now protected 24/7 by local scouts and elite KWS rangers.
The safari includes a visit to the Observation Hill, offering a panoramic view of the vast plains, shimmering swamps, and grazing wildlife below. You’ll encounter lions, buffaloes, hippos, leopards, and a wealth of water birds like pelicans and Egyptian geese, all within the lush marshes that dot this seemingly arid land.
Experience not just nature, but also authentic Maasai culture, as Amboseli lies deep within Loitoktok District, a region rich in tradition and indigenous lifestyle.
This is more than a wildlife viewing trip—it's a chance to witness conservation in action, feel the spirit of the African wilderness, and stand in awe of giants, both animal and mountain.
