Photo by: Umarella - The defassa waterbucks are grizzled grey or brown with white markings on the face and rump. They have white patches above the eyes, nose and mouth. These creatures are mostly found in vicinage of rivers because they are very dependent on water hence the name waterbuck. They can run up to a speed of 50km/h. A fun fact about defassa waterbucks is they communicate visually through a process called the fleshmen response where they curl up their upper lip to show their front teeth while inhaling their closed nostrils. These interesting species is mostly found in the savannah grasslands especially in Queen Elizabeth National Park.
