After a hearty breakfast, you will be driven to the Marangu Gate, the starting point of the Marangu Route. Here, you will complete the necessary registration formalities and meet your experienced guide and porters. The hike to Mandara Hut is relatively easy and takes approximately 4-5 hours. Along the way, you will pass through lush rainforests filled with exotic flora and fauna. Mandara Hut is situated at an altitude of 2,700 meters and offers basic yet comfortable accommodation.

As you leave Mandara Hut, the landscape gradually transforms from rainforest to moorland. The trail becomes steeper, and you will navigate through various vegetation zones. The hike to Horombo Hut takes about 5-6 hours, and you will gain significant altitude during this leg of the journey. Horombo Hut, located at 3,720 meters, provides more spacious accommodation and stunning panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
