Moshi - Horombo Hut (3720 m)

Kilimanjaro

Our driver will pick you up in Moshi and bring you to Marangu Gate. The flora of the Marangu rainforest features eucalyptus trees, ferns, junipers, sycamore trees, moss and lichens. You might see birds and primates such as blue monkeys, colobus monkeys and olive baboons. After lunch, we go higher, where the vegetation features giant Lobelias and Dendrosenecio Kilimanjari.The trek to Horombo Escarpment at 3700m will reward us with magnificent views of Mawenzi peak and the summit of Kibo.

This morning, we will be hiking back to Mandara Hut. A side trip to Maundi Crater let's us admire the views of Northern Tanzania and Kenya. At Mandara Hut a hot lunch will be waiting for us. Then we proceed downhill to Marangu Gate, for the transfer to Moshi town. In total, we will have hiked for about 17 km today. Our driver will take you to Kilimanjaro Airport for your evening flight to Zanzibar; or to Arusha, for more safari adventures.
