Lemosho route approaches Mount Kilimanjaro from the west, beginning with a long drive from hotel in Moshi town to Londorossi Gate. From there, the first two days are spent trekking through the rain forest to Shira Ridge. The Lemosho route crosses the entire Shira Plateau from west to east in a pleasant, relatively flat hike. Crowds are low until the route joins the Machame route near Lava Tower. Then the route Travers’s underneath Kilimanjaro's Southern Ice Field on a path known as the Southern Circuit before summiting from Barafu. After reaching Uhuru peak then you will descent via the Mweka route.

Londorossi Gate to Forest Camp
Kilimanjaro
Elevation (ft): 7,800ft to 9,500ft Distance: 6 km Hiking Time:3-4 hours Habitat: Rain Forest Winners Expeditions will drive you from hotel in Moshi town to Londorossi Gate takes about 4 hours, where you will complete registration and issuing the entry permit. Then you will continue hiking to the Lemosho trailhead for about 1hour where you will get lunch and then continue hiking via undisturbed forest to the first camp site which is Forest camp Know as Big tree Camp.

Forest Camp to Shira One Camp

You will take an early breakfast after wake up and you will continue hiking via the forest into a savannah of tall grasses, heather, and volcanic rock draped with lichen beards. You will ascend through the lush rolling hills and cross several streams to reach the Shira Ridge before dropping gently down to Shira 1 camp. The view of Kibo from across the plateau is amazing with very attractive environment

Shira Camp 1 to Shira 2 to Moir

Soon after wake up you will have breakfast at Shira camp and continue explore the Shira plateau for full day, it is gentle walk East towards Kibo glaciered peak across the plateau to Shira 2 camp and continue to Moir hut. There are variation of walks available on Lent Hills making it to be an excellent acclimatization point and prepare hikers for summit.

Shira 2 to Barranco camp

From the Shira Plateau, you will continue hiking to the east up a ridge, passing the junction towards the peak of Kibo, you will change direction to South East towards the Lava Tower called the “Shark’s Tooth. We will continue hiking to meet the second junction which brings you up to the Arrow Glacier at an altitude of 16,000ft. You will continue moving to the Barranco Hut at an altitude of 13,000ft for resting, enjoying dinner, and overnight.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

After wake up you will have breakfast then you will continue hiking from Barranco camp via steep ridge passing the Barranco wall, to the Karanga valley camp site for acclimatization, enjoying dinner, and resting during the night.

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

After wake up you will have breakfast at Karanga camp then you will start hiking and hit the junction which connect Mweka trail, and continue hiking to Barafu camp where the south circuit will be completed there you will enjoy dinner, rest, and prepare for summit. Barafu camp offers views of summit from different angles and two peaks of mountain Kilimanjaro is seen which is Mawenzi and Kibo.

Barafu Camp to Summit to Mweka

Very early in the morning (midnight to 2am), you will wake up start hiking to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers with Winners Expeditions mountain guides for more interpretations. You head in a northwesterly direction and ascend through heavy scree towards Stella Point on the crater rim this is the most physically challenging portion.

After enjoyable resting night at Mweka camp you will have early breakfast and continue descending via wet and muddy environment due to rainy condition at lower elevation but gaiters and hiking poles will make you stable from Mweka camp to Mweka gate where you will receive your summit certificate.
