We explore Namibia’s Skeleton Coast and visit the seals at Cape Cross before enjoying our last night of the tour in Swakopmund, Namibia’s adventure capital. Here we can enjoy any number of adrenaline-inducing optional activities from sandboarding to quad biking and more before returning to Windhoek where our tour ends and our volunteering adventure begins.

Backpackers, Windhoek
Upon arrival at Hosea Kutako International Airport, we will be transferred to Windhoek. Depending on the time, we can participate in optional activities. Dinner is at our own expense at a local restaurant or at the accommodation where we'll be staying. Rest early for the upcoming 6 days of exploring Northern Namibia.

Mount Etjo Game Reserve
You'll be picked up from your Windhoek accommodation at 07:15 and taken to headquarters for a meeting. We'll visit Okahandja's wood carving market, then head to Mt. Etjo campsite near Okonjati Game Reserve. Enjoy a game drive, spot wildlife, and watch the resident lions. Dinner will be cooked over a fire. Accommodation is twin-share tents with shared ablution. Meals include lunch and dinner.

Okaukuejo, Etosha National Park
After breakfast, we head north to Etosha National Park. We make a stop in Otjwarongo for supplies before reaching Okaukuejo, the main camp. Enjoy a game drive in search of big game, including elephants, rhinos, and big cats. Don't miss the famous floodlit waterhole at Okaukuejo, where you can witness Etosha's wildlife, including black rhinos.

Okaukuejo, Etosha National Park
We spend the whole day exploring Etosha. Starting early, we enjoy morning game viewing at waterholes. After a quick breakfast, we continue our game drive to Halali camp. Lunch and leisure time are followed by an afternoon game drive. On our way back to Okaukuejo, we stop at the impressive Etosha Pan. We return to camp before sunset for the best wildlife viewing at the Okaukuejo waterhole.

Palmwag, Damaralands
Leaving Etosha, we visit the Otjikandero Himba Village near Kamanjab. Then we continue west to the stunning Etendeka Mountains and Grootberg Pass. Our next stop is Palmwag, known for its desert-adapted elephants. We set up camp and hope to spot the resident elephant herds.

Cape Cross, Skeleton Coast
We continue our journey to the spectacular Etendeka Mountains and Grootberg Pass, with their flat tabletops and rocky landscapes. Then we head south along the coastline, passing the unique Welwitschia Mirabilis plant and entering the eerie Skeleton Coast National Park. Along the way, we discover remnants of failed oil and diamond ventures before reaching Cape Cross seal colony, where stone crosses and a sunset beach walk await us at Cape Cross Lodge.

Hotel A La Mer, Swakopmund
We continue south to the beached shipwreck of The Zeila near Henties Bay. Then, we arrive in Swakopmund, a fascinating town with German colonial architecture, sand dunes, and the ocean. There are plenty of optional activities to enjoy, such as scenic flights and quad biking. Our guide can help with restaurant recommendations for lunch and dinner.

In Swakopmund, enjoy a leisurely morning exploring the town or join an optional excursion to Walvis Bay. We then return to Windhoek, stopping for a light lunch en route. The evening is free for you to have dinner at one of Windhoek's excellent restaurants.

N/a’an ku sê Wildlife Sanctuary
We start early today, heading to N/a’an ku sê Wildlife Sanctuary, a haven for injured or orphaned animals. After a briefing and meeting fellow volunteers, we join the N/a’an ku sê team for a welcome braai in the evening.

N/a’an ku sê Wildlife Sanctuary
After breakfast, we spend 1-2 hours caring for the orphaned and injured animals. The rest of the day is free to relax by the pool, read a book, or explore the conservation work at the volunteer center.
