Get to discover and explore Uganda with family and friends for 12 days on this amazing safari of Uganda. The tour takes you to the western tourism circuit crossing the Nile River and many other others. You Big 5 count will begin in the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, then moving on across the Uganda's largest national park, Murchison Falls. Here you will cruise the Nile as you view wildlife. The crown of your tour is off course the mountain gorillas in the southern highlands.
This is a budget safari that will open up Uganda's diversity over the next 12 days. The accommodation chosen can be upgraded depending on your needs. The safari will be in a safari vehicle with a popup roof which allows you great game viewing from the safety of the park.
In Queen Elizabeth, you have the option of meeting and going out with a member or members of the lion conservation team. This will bring you up close to the lions, and you will also get to know what is being done to protect and save the great cats of Uganda and Africa.
Even though you this is primarily a primates and wildlife safari, you will not miss out on the great birding opportunity. Uganda has over 1060 bird species with Queen Elizabeth National Park having a large concentration of over 600 species. So, wherever you go, you will be certain to hear a new bird song - if you listen out.
Of course the highlight is the gorilla trek. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has over 40 per cent of the world's endangered mountain gorillas.

Welcome to Uganda
The Kwezi Outdoors safari guide will meet you at the airport and then transfer you to your accommodation. Depending on arrival time, you may have a briefing on your safari today/tonight or even go into Entebbe for an optional walking tour. Entebbe is home East Africa's oldest golf course; a botanical garden; and the Uganda Wildlife Education Centre. If you get to Uganda early, you could use the time to go to the malls to get supplies like extra batteries for your gadgets.

After an early breakfast, you private Kwezi Outdoors safari guide will meet you at your hotel from where your safari now begins. The drive north takes you through the waking up Kampala, and other several other places along the northern highway. You will make a stopover at the Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary for a walk with one of Africa's Big 5 - the rhino. After the walk, proceed to your safari lodge on the border of the Murchison falls National Park.

In the morning, go for a game drive. Look out for wildlife including leopards, Uganda Kobs, elephants, buffalos, giraffes and of course lions that roam these savanna plains. At least 460 bird species find Murchison Falls National Parks a popular place to call home - look out for them on your safari. In the afternoon take a cruise on the Nile and enjoy the wildlife up close yet safely from your boat. This route to the bottom of Murchison Falls has been traveled by explorers for 100s of years.

Transfer to Kibale

Head out to Kibale National Park further south of Murchison Falls National Park. The drive will take you through farmlands, past homesteads and amazing views of the Albertine escarpment, which is part of the Great Rift Valley. You should arrive in Kibale later in the afternoon. Enjoy amazing landscapes along the road to Kibale. Depending on you arrival time, you could have the option to take a community tour, or simply rest as you prepare for the next day's tracking experience.

Track Chimpanzees in Kibale

Chimpanzee tracking starts early in the morning, so after breakfast make the transfer to the Kibale National Park headquarters. You will begin the tracking with a specialised guide who will introduce you the variety of life in the park. Of course at the top of the agenda is to meet the key residents - the chimpanzees. You will spend an hour when you finally catch up with a chimp family. In the afternoon, take a guided walk through the community maintained Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary.

Transfer and Explore Crater Lakes

After a leisurely breakfast travel further south to Queen Elizabeth National Park. The drive will take you through Kasese on the foothills of the Rwenzori Mountains. For many of the climbers of Rwenzori, Kasese is the starting point. Cross the equator just before you get to the park and check into your accommodation. Depending on your time you could simply relax or spend the time exploring the crater and salt lakes here.

Game drives start out early before sunrise so you are there just as the wildlife begins the new day. Look out for some of Africa's Big 5 like the elephants, buffalo, lions and leopards. The hunters and hunted are all out so it is great time for photography or simply enjoy the wildlife. In the afternoon you will take a water safari on the Kazinga Channel and get close to the wildlife and birds along the waterway. The Kazinga Channel connects Lakes George and Edward and is rich with wildlife.

Transfer to Bwindi
Bwindi Impenetrable
Today transfer to Bwindi through the southern sector of national park. Look out for tree climbing lions on your way as you go through the Ishasha sector. This is only one of two places in the world where you will find lions spending more time in the huge trees, than on the ground. Seek out the lions in the fig trees as you drive through the park. You should be in Bwindi later in the afternoon to prepare for the next day's trek.

A Magical Time with Gorillas

This is a once in a lifetime moment - trekking with mountain gorillas in this old world forest of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park. The trek begins with a briefing by the rangers at the park officers. Each trek is different and may last anything from 2 hours to more depending on where the gorilla family is. With just over 1000 mountain gorillas left in the world, this is a moment you shall live with. After the trek, you could rest or take a village walk to mee the locals.

Transfer to Lake Bunyonyi
Today you transfer to Lake Bunyonyi - a very popular highland lake where you can cool off after days of tracking and trekking. It is a great place to explore the islands using a dugout canoe - made from a single tree log. This is canoeing like the locals. It is also a place of a wide variety of birds - Bunyonyi means small birds. As you paddle along, look out for the birds, and in the evening enjoy great sunsets.

Transfer -Lake Mburo National Park

You will leave the highlands today for the savanna plains of Lake Mburo National Park. The park is surrounded by communities known for raising the Ankole longhorn cattle. You will see a number of this magnificent cattle along your transfer route and up close to your accommodation. After checking in at your lodge, you have the option of going out into the community meet the cattle and the keepers up close.

Walking Safari, then transfer home
Lake Mburo
Set out early in the morning for a walking safari with your guide and an armed wildlife ranger. The absence of the big cats like the lion makes Lake Mburo National Park a favorite for walking safaris. Walking will bring you up close to the zebras and the giraffes—giving you a totally different experience compared to being in a game drive vehicle. After the walking safari, you will transfer to Entebbe with a stopover at the Equator as your move from the southern into the northern hemisphere.
