Day 01
Day 01 Arrive in Kigali On arrival in Kigali today you will be met and transferred to your hotel for 1 night on a bed and breakfast basis. You will have a city tour, passing by Kigali's older commercial quartiers, business and residential areas, visit historic sites commemorating the 1994 Tutsi Genocide, take a guided tour within the Gisozi Genocide Memorial, and learn about the city's diverse neighborhoods and local attractions. Akagera
Day 02 Kigali ~ Akagera National Park Heading off to the Akagera National Park this morning you are bound to come across a multitude of bird species. Akagera, at a relatively low altitude on the border with Tanzania, is dominated scenically by a labyrinth of swamps and lakes that follow the meandering course of the Akagera River. Akagera | Nyungwe Forest
Day 04 Akagera National Park ~ Nyungwe Forest National Park This morning you drive to Nyungwe National Park via Kigali. En route you will visit the Nyanza Palace and Museum, the former Mwami's Palace (King's palace) and the seat of the feudal monarchy. You will also visit Butare, the second largest city of Rwanda with several university and research institutions and the Butare National Museum. Day 06 Nyungwe Forest National Park ~ Lake Kivu Option A: You return to Kigali today, visiting the Butare National Museum on the way. You will spend the night at the Moriah Hill Resort on a full board basis. Option B: A scenic drive takes you over the Albertine Rift today, heading to the beach city of Kibuye on the eastern shore of Lake Kivu, an extraordinarily beautiful inland sea enclosed by steep, green terraced hills along eastern Rwanda. You will spend 1 night with full board at Cormoran Lodge. Accommodation: Option A: Moriah Hill Resort Option B: Cormoran Lodge

Day 07 Lake Kivu Your drive today takes you to Gisenyi on the shore of Lake Kivu, to enjoy the beautiful sandy beach lined with swaying palms and colonial-era hotels that exude an atmosphere of tropical languor. Volcanoes
Day 08 Lake Kivu ~ Volcanoes National Park Building towards the climax of your safari, you head for Ruhengeri, near the Volcanoes National Park, where you will spend 2 nights at your accommodation option just outside the park boundary. You will have an opportunity to visit the local market and interact with the friendly local people. The constant flow of humanity is quite remarkable. Virunga | Volcanoes
Day 09 Volcanoes National Park - Gorilla Tracking Around 06h30 you will be transferred to the Volcanoes National Park for the Gorilla Tracking Registration, a simple process where the park staff determines which group of gorillas you will visit. There are a total of 80 gorilla permits available each day with a maximum of eight trekkers visiting any one group. Treks vary in duration depending on which gorilla group you are assigned to. After locating your assigned gorilla group, you will spend approximately an hour in their company before heading back down the volcano slopes. Accommodation: Option A: Gorilla Mountain View Lodge Option B: Sabyinyo Silverback Lodge Depart from Kigali Today you depart from foothills of the Virunga volcanoes and drive south past coffee, tea and banana plantations on a scenic drive through the verdant landscape to Kigali .
