This 10 days culture and wildlife safari will take us to the three beautiful waterfalls “Sipi Falls” that sits on the foothills of mountain Elgon. The falls are located in Eastern Uganda Kapchorwa district approximately 280 km, from Kampala. The falls lie on the edge of Mount Elgon National Park near the Kenyan Border. The name Sipi was derived from the traditional plant called ‘Sep’ that used to grow on the banks of the falls and which the locals used to treat fevers and measles among themselves.
This adventurous tour takes you to Moroto the town at the slopes of the volcanic massive mountain Moroto. You will immerse yourself in Karamojong culture, participating in traditional games, daily activities; you will experience typical Karamojong pastoral life by sleeping a night with the animals and shepherds in the Kraal. Help bringing the cows to the kraal, share stories around the campfire, play games with the warriors and learn how all about nomadic life.
This cultural and wildlife Safari will take you to Mount Morungole (also known as Ikland) which is located in the absolute northern hills of Karamoja. Here lives the smallest tribe of Uganda called the Ik. The Ik have always lived in nowadays Kidepo Valley National Park but have been displaced 50 years ago whereby the now live on the mountain ridges.
Visiting the IK gives you a rare insight into a unique tribe in Africa. You will find stunningly beautiful Scenery the higher your climb takes you, simply breathtaking scenes in the valleys below you and into the Eastern Rift Valley of Kenya and over to Southern Sudan.
Discover one of Africa’s most scenic national park containing one of the most exciting faunas of any Ugandan parks, with over 80 species of animals, several of which are only found in the Kidepo Valley like; cheetahs, striped hyenas, caracal, lions, elephants, leopards, warthogs, ostriches, buffaloes, giraffes and over 465 birds species like; Abyssinian Crimson wing, Abyssinian roller, African Grey, African Hill – babbler, Black – breasted Barbet, Brown warbler, Brown woodland – warbler. Kidepo valley captivates with it’s sprawling savannah grassland, dotted with rocky crags, sausage trees and acacia trees. The park is a photographer’s paradise displaying a kaleidoscope of colors that are truly spectacular to see.

Itinerary

Arrival and transfer to hotel

Arrive at Entebbe international Airport, you will meet with Avelisa Tours and Travel driver/guide. He will brief you about the 10 days, 9 nights of culture and Wildlife.And then the driver/guide will transfer you to your hotel where you will have time to relax while enjoying the cool breeze from the Lake. Later have dinner and overnight.

Transfer to Sipi falls &Arabica

Sipi Falls is located in Eastern part of Uganda and northwest of Mount Elgon rise in a series of massive basalt cliffs, often several kilometers in length, over which the mountain’s rivers plunge as beautiful waterfalls with breathtaking views of the Sipi Falls. We will venture out to see the waterfalls from up close, experience the warm culture of the Sebei people and witness how one of Uganda’s most delicious coffee is grown.

After your morning breakfast you will have your lunch packed for the day then explore the 3 waterfalls (75m,85m and 100m) hiking up mountain Elgon which takes 4 hours starting from budadiri via sasa trail to the summit and then descend down the Sipi trail back to Sipi falls. The falls offer breathing taking views across L.kyoga, karamoja plains and the slopes of mountain Elgon expect to see different bird species like the tacazze, sun birds, hornbill birds and many more while you’re hiking.

Transfer to Moroto, life in the K"

After breakfast, embark on a journey to Moroto the town at the slopes of the volcanic massive mountain Moroto and the surrounding savannah planes which holds a range of things to do in Moroto for everybody like hiking, cultural experiences, bicycle tours and archeological tours. You will immerse yourself in Karamojong culture, participating in traditional games, . experience typical Karamojong pastoral life by sleeping a night with the animals and learn how all about nomadic life.

After having breakfast at 9: 00am, embark on a 3 – 4 hours journey to kidepo valley Nation Park while sighting breathtaking sceneries and beautiful landscape captivating and enchanting the beauty of the wildness that spreads beyond the valleys. On arrival,check in to the hotel, have lunch and relax for the rest of the day preparing for tomorrow’s activities.

After breakfast, undertake a journey to mountain Morungole for the IK tribe. For village tour experience You will immerse in IK tribe culture to engage in traditional games, daily activities, learning, dancing. The Ik people, who speak the Teuso language, live in the Morungole Mountains of Uganda, on the northwestern border of Kenya in Kidepo Valley National Park. Also called the Mountain people, the Ik number fewer than 10,000 individuals today, & primarily practice subsistence farming
