Itinerary

Day 1:Machame Gate to Machame Camp

Early in the morning, after breakfast, you will be picked up and driven to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate. The drive takes about 50 minutes and passes through the village of Machame, located on the mountain’s lower slopes. Once you arrive at the gate, you’ll start your hike through the rainforest. The trail is winding and can be muddy and slippery, so using gaiters and trekking poles is helpful. Continue hiking until you reach Machame Camp, where you’ll spend the night.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

On this Day after breakfast, we’ll leave the rainforest and start hiking up a steep rocky ridge covered with heather. We’ll cross a small valley and continue until the ridge ends. The trail then turns west into a river gorge. You’ll have time to rest, enjoy dinner, and stay overnight at the Shira Camp.

Day 3: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp

From the Shira Plateau, we head east along a ridge, passing the junction leading to the peak of Kibo. We then change direction southeast towards the Lava Tower, also known as the "Shark's Tooth." Shortly after, we'll reach the second junction at 16,000 feet. From there, we descend to the Barranco Hut at 13,000 feet, where we'll rest, have dinner, and stay overnight. This day serves as an acclimatization day, allowing us to stay at the same altitude we began the day at.

Day 4: Barranco Camp- Barafu Camp

After breakfast, we will leave Barranco Camp and continue on a steep ridge passing the Barranco Wall, to the Karanga Valley campsite. Then, leaving Karanga we will hit the junction which connects with the Mweka Trail, continue up to the Barafu Hut. At this point, we will have completed the South Circuit, which offers views of the summit from many different angles. Here we will make camp, rest, enjoy dinner and prepare for the summit day. At this point the two peaks of Mawenzi and Kibo are seen.

Day 5:Barafu Camp to Mweka Camp

At around 2am in the midnight we will continue our way to the summit between the Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers using headlamps and finally arrive at the STELLA POINT on the crater rim. We will have a short rest and enjoy the sunrise. we will begin hiking towards the SUMMIT which takes about 1-hour and snow may be encountered on the way. The place is so cold so you need to protect yourself. We will have some photos and enjoy to the SUMMIT, there after we will begin descending to the MWEKA CAMP.

Mweka Camp to Moshi

After breakfast, we will continue descending to the Mweka Park Gate where summit certificates will be awarded. Notice that on descending muddy mighty be encountered so it is necessary to have Gaiters and trekking poles. We will enjoy our lunch and say goodbye to your mountain crew. A vehicle will meet you at Mweka Park Gate to drive you back to hotel in Moshi.
