These areas are renowned for witnessing the spectacular Serengeti migrations, which typically occur from August to October.
In addition to the migration experience, our 7-day African Safari Tours in Tanzania also includes visits to two iconic destinations: the world-famous Ngorongoro Crater and Lake Manyara National Park. During the months of August to October, as the migration from the central Serengeti moves northward, it splits into two routes. The primary group embarks on a breathtaking journey westward, crossing the Grumeti River. Here, enormous crocodiles lie in wait, ready to capture wildebeests during their river crossing. The wildebeests then continue their migration, venturing through the Grumeti region, where they face yet another perilous river crossing at the Mara River before reaching the lush pastures of Kenya's Masai Mara.

Day 1: Arusha to Lake Manyara
Lake Manyara
Get picked up from your hotel in Arusha at 7:00 AM and drive to Lake Manyara National Park. Lake Manyara National Park is home to tree-climbing lions, hippos, elephants, zebras, buffaloes, giraffes, baboons, blue and green monkeys, warthogs and more. About 350 bird species have been recorded in this Lake Manyara National Park destination. At 12:00 PM leave the park for a hot lunch, at 2:30 PM drive to Serengeti National Park for dinner and overnight.

Day 2: Lake Manyara - Serengeti
Lake Manyara | Serengeti
After breakfast we drive towards the Serengeti National Park. We continue to the Lobo area, located north of the Seronera area (Central Serengeti National Park). The wildebeest migration normally crosses the Lobo range in July/August each year en route to Kenya's Masai Mara Game Reserve and again in late October/November en route south to Serengeti National Park. We will arrive in time for lunch and in the afternoon enjoy a game drive in Serengeti National Park.

Day 3: Day Game drives Serengeti
Serengeti
After breakfast at your accommodation, enjoy a full day game drive to the destination of Seronera. The Lobo and Grumeti River area has good game all year round. The game's visualization is very good and you can play the game for long periods of time without seeing other vehicles, truly one of the forgotten corners of the Serengeti plains. Magnificent riparian trees can be found along the river courses and bird species such as kingfishers and ospreys can be found here.

Day 4: Serengeti (Central) to North
Serengeti
After an early morning breakfast, we make our way to the northern edge of the Serengeti National Park, also known as Wagakuria. We will do safari on the way from Lobo area to Wagakuria area. We arrive at a lodge in time for lunch and after lunch enjoy a game drive in the area. Wildebeest migrations are usually observed in the Wagakuria area from August to October, depending on rainfall patterns. It is incredible to witness the frantic herds of wildebeest crossing the Mara River.

Day 5: Game drive Northern Serenget
Serengeti
After early morning breakfast, enjoy a full day game drive in the Wagakuria area. Native wildlife is exceptionally high in this area of the park, with prides of up to 30 lions, but from August to October the area becomes a wildlife haven. A herd can be seen at River and they only decide a few days later whether or not to cross. This area is a stunning region of kopjes, forests, riparian vegetation and open plains, similar to Kenya's Masai Mara Game Reserve.

Day 6: North Serengeti to Ngorongor
Ngorongoro Crater | Serengeti
After breakfast, depart from the Northern Serengeti to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. You arrive at your accommodation just in time for lunch and then we descend more than 600m to the Ngorongoro Crater to see the wildlife within. We will also visit Lake Magadi, a large but shallow alkaline lake in the southwest corner, which is one of the main features of Ngorongoro Crater. Here you can often see large numbers of flamingos, hippos and other waterfowl.

Day 7: Ngorongoro Crater to Arusha
Ngorongoro Crater
In the morning after breakfast, you are ready to leave Ngorongoro Crater. The Ngorongoro Conservation Area is one of the most desirable safari destinations in the world. The crater is home to a large number of predators including lion, leopard, cheetah, jackal and hyena, as well as a large population of wildebeest, zebra, antelope, cape buffalo and more. Enjoy a picnic lunch at the park's famous Hippo Pool. Afterwards drive back to Moshi/Arusha.
