Day 1: Moshi hotel to Momella Gate

Arusha

The drive to Arusha National Park takes about an hour, the journey continues to Momella Gate, the starting point of your trek. Soon the Mount Meru Trek takes you through the forest on the first day, after about two hours you will reach the small Mayo Falls, here a meadow is an ideal place for your picnic. After another 2 hours you will reach the Miriakamba Hut. Here you will spend your first night on Mount Meru and relax for the next day of hiking. Having lunch; dinner

Day 2: Miriakamba Hut to Saddle Hut

After breakfast, the hike on the second day takes you through the dense forest with mosses and beard lichen. After 3 hours you will reach Mgongo wa Tembo (Elephant Ridge) viewpoint. The hike is partly on wooden steps, as the path is steep and slippery in places. From this point you have a magnificent view of the large blown out crater. After a brief pause, the 2-second hike continues by changing from montane rainforest to thinning scrub to Saddle Hut.

Day 3: Saddle Hut to Socialist Peak

In the morning drive through the bush to Rhino Point. The path becomes more and more demanding and you will find some easy climbing passages. As soon as the sun rises behind Kilimanjaro and the plain to Mount Meru begins to glow in a reddish-orange light, the strenuous ascent is quickly forgotten. On the descent, return to Saddle Hut for lunch and a hot drink, then continue to Miriakamba Hut, arriving in the early afternoon.

Day 4: Miriakamba - to Momella Gate

Distance: 13km, Hiking Time: 3 hours. After breakfast, the descent continues to Momella Gate along the Northern Route. On the way you will again be able to see animals such as buffalo, baboons, elephants. After a 3-hour walk, you will arrive at Momella Gate, where your driver will be waiting for you. After saying goodbye to your mountain team, you will be taken back to your hotel. Breakfast; Having lunch
