This 5-DaysCalving Season Great Serengeti Migration Safari package has been designed specifically to focus on and to increase your chance to see the great Serengeti Wildebeest Migration in Ndutu Area. We have designed the itinerary to include both the Ndutu Area where the majority of the wildebeest migration can normally be found from January to March. This itinerary has been designed that you Drive in / Drive back from the Serengeti National Park to Arusha town.
Calving usually takes place between January – February to March of each year. In January the herds begin making their way to the south of the Serengeti after the rains start falling. The question of how the herds know when it is raining or not is something many people have questioned and the answer is that we actually do not know! Many people say that they can smell the rain, others believe they can sense when the pressure in the air changes. The only thing we know for sure is that where it rains, the herds follow. Within a two to three-week time period, over half a million wildebeest are born with as many as 8 000 wildebeest being born on the same day!

Itinerary
DAY 1: ARUSHA TO TARANGIRE

The first day of your safari will begin by 8AM in the morning with a pick up from your hotel at Arusha. Once everyone is aboard, you will head towards Tarangire National Park. The 150 Km drive will be covered in about 3hrs. The national park is extremely famous and special for its diverse landscape and nine different vegetation zones. As you begin your game drive, you will be welcomed by the ancient and gigantic Baobab trees, which make even animals like the giraffe look tiny.

Day 2 Drive to Serengeti National

After an early breakfast, your guide will pick you up and head towards the Serengeti via the Ngorongoro crater rim, leaving the highlands behind, you descend into the heart of wild Africa – the Serengeti National Park – with its endless plains, rolling into the distance as far as the eye can see. You will head to the central park area, known as the Seronera area, one of the richest wildlife habitats in the park,

DAY 3: FULL DAY GAME SERENGETI

Spend a full day exploring the vast Serengeti plains. You will rise early to enjoy an early morning game drive. At sunrise, you may encounter animals grazing in the beautiful light of sunrise, and predators may still be busy hunting before retiring to rest for the day. Sunrise on the Serengeti is not to be missed and extraordinary photographic opportunities will abound at this magical time of day.

DAY 4: SERENGETI - NGORONGORO
Ngorongoro Crater
You will rise early to enjoy an early morning game drive in the Serengeti and then you drive to Ndutu for a full day game drive in the area. You start looking for the big cats and also calving wildebeests. This time you have wildebeest in the area arriving for calving season starting in mid-February. You can decide to have lunch at the lodge and drive out after OR have a full day game drive. Late afternoon you drive to Tanzania Bush Camps Ndutu for Dinner and overnight.

DAY 5: NGORONGORO CRATER TO ARUSHA
Arusha
Leave the Camp at 6,00am and drive to Ngorongoro crater. After check-in, you descend down 600 meters into the crater for a full day game drive. Supported by year-round water supply and fodder, the Ngorongoro crater supports a vast variety of animals, which include herds of wildebeest, zebra, buffalo, eland, warthog, hippo, and giant African elephants. Another big draw card to this picturesque national park is its dense population of predators.
