About Lemosho Route
The Lemosho route starts from the West at the Londorossi gate at an altitude of 2360 metres from the sea level. The Kilimanjaro Lemosho Route is an improved version of old Shira route. This route will take you through the rainforest beautiful and remote rainforest. It also increases the chances of spotting wildlife.
The route has the success rate of almost 95% as it has a longer itinerary and gives you more time to sleep on the lower elevations and spend more time on the mountains compared to other routes like Marangu route.
This route usually a longer trek as it has longer itinerary for proper acclimatization. You can take Lemosho route 7 days which is standard and Lemosho route 8 days which is recommended.

Lemosho Route climate
The Lemosho route starts through the fertile rainforest and you may feel the humid temperature at the beginning. The heath and moorland region or zone give you a bit drizzle of rain or snow. The summit attempt is made from Barafu in the early morning hours, often during the full moon day. This is the coldest and windiest section your climb. The best time to climb is the dry season.

Lemosho route is one of the Kilimanjaro routes which offers the highest success rate ranging from 90% to 95% compared to other routes like Rongai Route. However, the success rate depends according to the time taken to climb the route or number of days for climbing Kilimanjaro.
The Lemosho route 9 days gives you additional days of acclimatization, so that your body will be able to be adjusted to the altitude condition in the higher elevations. You will attempt the Mount Kilimanjaro on 9th day and the longer itinerary will help you to be on the top of uhuru peak with highest summit success rate of 95%+.
Lemosho route 8 days also gives you an additional day for acclimatization and helps your body to get adjusted to the higher elevation altitude level and you will not have any fear of altitude symptoms. However, as you are trying to attempt the summit on 8th day, you may have a success rate a bit less than 9 days which can range to 95%.

Lemosho Glades to Big Tree

You will be picked up at your hotel at around 08:00 am and transferred to the Lemosho route at Londorosi gate which is located on the western side of Kilimanjaro. After the registration process, you will still start our climb steadily through the forests of the Lemosho glades to reach Big Tree camp where you will be spending the night. Big Tree Camp to Shira 1 Camp

Today you will trek across a plateau of grassy moorland and heather scattered with volcanic rock formations. Our destination for today is the Shira 1 Camp from where there are often views of Kibo Peak floating on the clouds. Shira 1 Camp to Shira 2 Camp

Today you will get the chance to view the Northern Ice fields from the western side of the mountain with some unusual views of Kibo. Our steady climb across the moorland of the Shira Plateau will help with acclimatization and we enjoy great panoramic views. Our destination today is the Shira 2 Camp. Shira 2 Camp to Barranco Camp

Your trek starts with an ascent with far-reaching panoramic views, walking into the climatic zone of the upland desert and on the lava ridges beneath the glaciers of the Western Breach. You will reach the distinct pinnacle of the Lava Tower (4640 m), our high point for the day and a great place to enjoy your lunch. In the afternoon we make a steep descent to our camp for the night at Barranco Valley (3960 m). Distance covered: 10km / 6.2mi Approx. time: 7 hrs Meals: Full board.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

A day starts by descending into the start of the Great Barranco, a huge ravine. We then exit steeply, up the Great Barranco Wall, which divides us from the southeastern slopes of Kibo. It's a climb over rock, not technical but long and tiring. Passing underneath the Heim and Kersten glaciers, we head towards the Karanga valley. From here we have a steep climb up from Karanga valley to our night's camp at Karanga camp, set at 3963m. Distance covered: 5.5km Approx. time: 5hrs Meals: Full board

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

We set off on our walk to Barafu camp at 4640m. The climb will take us across desolate scree slopes with no vegetation around us at all. It's a tough steep walk made more difficult by the altitude. On arriving at camp we eat and spend the afternoon resting as we prepare for a long night and day ahead. It is important to keep hydrated and warm. we will be getting up at between 11pm and 12pm to start the climb to the summit. Distance covered: 3km Approx. time taken: 3 hrs Meals: Full board

Barafu to UHURU PEAK to Mweka camp

We start off at around midnight and walk steeply upwards to the summit glaciers. We will be climbing scree for 4 to5 hrs but gain incredible height over a short distance. The views are spectacular. We should be on the crater rim at Stella Point as the first rays of the sun hit us. Spectacular ice cliffs within the crater surround us and the views to Mawenzi peak and beyond are breathtaking. Another hour's walking takes us to the summit, Uhuru Peak Distance: 16.4km Approx. time: 13hrs -15hrs

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

A gentle trek takes us down through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, where we complete park formalities and receive certificates, which you can hang up with pride! We are then met by our vehicles and return to the hotel in Moshi, where you can treat yourself to a welcome shower then celebrate with cold drinks.
