Arusha to Machame Gate

Kilimanjaro

From Arusha drive to Machame road, which will end at Machame Park gate, the climb starts from Machame gate (1830m), we walk through the lush lower slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Slowly gaining altitude while enjoying the diverse flora and fauna of the rain forest, you will arrive at the first Machame Hut, situated at 3000m above sea level clouds permit. Machame Gate to Machame Hut (3,000 m): 6-7 hours walking.

Machame Camp to Shira Camp 3840m

A shorter day climbing up a steep ridge to reach a small semicircular cliff known as a Picnic site, and continue up a gentler ascent through the lower alpine moorland, which is known for beautiful wild alpine flowers. The most spectacular views of Kibo peak can be seen from Shira Camp. Is where Herds of eland up here and there are fascinating geological features in the old volcanic caldera which can be viewed during a half-hour optional walk in the afternoon.

Shira Camp to Barranco 3,950m

It is gentle ascent but panoramic views, climb towards the main peak Kibo, with the western glaciers clearly visible across the rugged high-altitude desert of volcanic rocks and boulders. Skirting around its base and under the imposing western Breach, descend into the sheltered Barranco Valley for mid-way camp at 3,950m. 5 to 7 hours walking and only 110m total ascent but having climbed much higher and dropped back down to the valley of the Heroes assists acclimatization.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp 3995

Wake up early in the morning after breakfast, start hiking the Barranco wall which is also known as breakfast. The Barranco Wall is somehow a technical part of the whole trek where you experience hugging and kissing some rocks. After one hour, we reach the top of the Barranco wall where we take a short break before continuing with our journey to Karanga Camp for Lunch, dinner, and overnight. Hiking time: 4hours Hiking distance 6km

Karanga Camp to Barafu camp 4673 m

Wake up in the morning for breakfast and be prepared to leave the camp. Today the next camp is not far, the trail is also less steep. After arriving at Barafu Camp, check-in and spend your time resting until dinner time. Today you will get your dinner earlier to give yourself enough time for rest. Your guides will meet for a summit briefing before you go to sleep. Carefully listen and follow the advice from your guides for a successful summit. Hiking time: 4hours Hiking distance 4km

Barafu camp to Summit (Uhuru)5895m

The might ascent of 1,300m and about 7 hours trek to the summit at 5895 meters and after that descend for 2,600m,6 to 7 hours trek to the Mweka campsite (3400m) above Mweka gate. This is a long hard day but you feel absolutely delighted when you have done it! Barafu Camp (4550 m) to Uhuru peak (5895 m) to Mweka camp (3100 m). Hiking Time: 8 hours to Uhuru peak. 7/8 hours descend to Mweka.

After the last breakfast on the mountain, you will descend about 10 km, 3hours through the rainforest to Mweka Gate, on arrival you will check out and your guide will collect your certificates and be ready to drive back to your hotel in Arusha for a shower and celebrations
