Safari summary
The Machame Route, often called the “Whiskey Route,” is the most popular way to ascend Mount Kilimanjaro. Known for its scenic diversity and breathtaking landscapes, this route offers trekkers an unforgettable adventure. While the Machame route is considered more challenging with longer, steeper climbs compared to the Marangu route, the reward is stunning panoramic views of the mountain's varying ecosystems.
Perfect for adventurers with previous hiking or backpacking experience, the Machame route takes you through dramatic landscapes, from lush rainforests to alpine meadows. Despite being one of the more frequented routes, its beauty remains unrivaled, showcasing sights such as the expansive Shira Plateau, the optional Lava Tower scramble, the iconic Barranco Wall climb, and a traverse beneath Kilimanjaro’s southern ice fields.
Your journey begins upon arrival in Moshi, where you'll rest and acclimatize. In the evening, you’ll meet your experienced guide for a thorough briefing to ensure a smooth and successful climb.
This route is designed for trekkers seeking an adventurous yet rewarding experience on Africa’s highest peak.
