A fantastic safari visiting some wonderful parks and reserves in southern Kenya, including Amboseli with its elephant herds and great views of Kilimanjaro, the wilderness of Tsavo West, Lake Naivasha in the great Rift Valley and the iconic Maasai Mara where you’ll have plenty of opportunities to see all the Big Five, and watch big cats patrol the savannah plains! In addition to game drives, activities will include a boat safari on Lake Naivasha, a nature walk on Crescent Island and a day sightseeing in Nairobi, including a visit to the David Sheldrick elephant orphanage. The camps and lodges have been selected based on their service and comfort level and on their locations within the parks and reserves.

Itinerary
Day 1
Tsavo
Depart Nairobi for Tsavo West, a huge park of over 7,000 km sq. and is made up of woodland, savannahs and riverine habitats and is home to many species including thousands of elephants, leopard, cheetah, wild dogs, crocodiles and over 600 species of bird. After lunch at the lodge you'll head out for an afternoon game drive to explore this expansive park.

Tsavo
Spend the day on morning and afternoon game drives, with all meals at the lodge, which is a stone-built safari lodge and has great views of the surrounding hills and overlooks its own water hole, which is often visited by elephants, buffalos and a wide variety of other plains animals.

Day 3
Amboseli
Depart Tsavo for Amboseli, a fantastic park with great views of Mount Kilimanjaro and is one of the best places in Africa where you can encounter large herds of elephants up close! Amboseli has several habitat types ranging from savannahs to wetlands, and the west side of the park is dominated by a lake that often dries up during the dry season, all of which help make Amboseli home to over 600 species of birds, big cats and many other species of mammals. Day 4
Amboseli
Spend the day on morning and afternoon game drives in the park with all meals at Ol Tukai lodge, which is one of just a few accommodations located within the park itself and is one of the best places to watch elephants with the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro. The lodge holds evening birding talks, lectures by researchers from the Elephant Research Centre and cultural talks by a Maasai culturist.

Day 5
After breakfast and a short game drive through Amnoseli, you’ll head back to Nairobi with a picnic lunch arriving in time for dinner at the Wildebeest Eco Camp, a small camp on the outskirts of the city, set in a peaceful site with lots of trees and birdlife.

Day 6
After breakfast you’ll leave camp and spend the day sightseeing in Nairobi, the first stop will be the elephant orphanage, then lunch at the historical Karen Blixen Coffee House. This will be followed by a short visit to the Karen Blixen Museum, the centerpiece of a 4,500-acre farm owned by author Karen Blixen and finally, you’ll head over to the Giraffe Centre to meet and feed the giraffes. At the end of the day, you will return to camp for dinner and an evening around the fire.

Day 7
Lake Nakuru
Drive to Lake Nakuru (3 hours) where you could see over 400 different species of birds, large numbers of white rhinos, the rare Rothschild giraffe, and many other plains mammals. Your accommodation is at Sopa Lodge, situated at the top of a ridge and has stunning views over the park and lake. After lunch you'll head out on a game drive around the lake, then at sunset you will head back to the lodge for dinner and an evening relaxing.

Day 8
After breakfast and a game drive you'll head to Lake Naivasha, a freshwater lake home to hippos, waterbuck and many species of bird. You’ll be staying at the Sopa Resort, located close to the lake shore and often has wildlife wandering around such as bushbuck, and giraffe. After lunch you’ll head out on a boat safari across the lake where you may see hippos and many species of bird. You'll also stop at Crescent Island for a guided nature walk where you can see many different plains mammals.

Day 9
Masai Mara
After breakfast, you’ll leave Naivasha for the open grassland of the Maasai Mara, rich in biodiversity and home to a large variety of bird species and wildlife, this savannah reserve offers great game viewing and bird watching opportunities and is regarded as the jewel of Kenya’s wildlife reserves! You'll arrive at camp in time for lunch and then head out for an afternoon game drive.

Day 10
Masai Mara
Spend the day on a full day game drive with a picnic lunch, then head back to camp for dinner. Sarova Mara Game Camp is situated inside the Maasai Mara national reserve and is a good quality tented camp with several tent types available. There is also a souvenir shop and a pool to cool off after a game drive.

Day 11
Masai Mara
The day will be spent on morning and afternoon game drives exploring the park and tracking down the Big Five, with all meals at camp.

Day 12
After an early morning game drive, you’ll head back to camp for breakfast, then late morning you’ll head back to Nairobi with a picnic lunch (5.5 hours). Alternatively stay for lunch at the lodge and fly back to Nairobi in the afternoon (optional extra).
