This park has up to 4000 lions, an incredible amount considering the total population of lions in Africa is estimated to have dwindled down to about 32000. Itinerary

Boat Safari along River Rufiji.

Nyerere (Selous)

You will be picked from Dar es salaam and drive to Selous Game Reserve, about a four hour drive. Arriving in Selous GR, you will head to your booked lodge, check in and have lunch. Later afternoon, you will head for boat safari along Rufiji River. Boating safari takes 2-3 hours. You will discover the Rufiji River by boat, encounter hippos, monkeys and crocodiles in good numbers. You will also see almost 350 bird species that have been recorded in the Selous. Return to your lodge for overnight.

Nyerere (Selous)

You will use open pop-up cruiser vehicle which will allow you to see large population of elephant, big number of buffalo and wild dog. Other species commonly seen are lion, bushbuck, impala, giraffe, eland, baboon, zebra, Kudus and Crocodile. Also, you will have a chance to capture good photos of different birds, beautiful nature sceneries and animals. After a whole day of game drive, you will be dropped at your selected accommodation for overnight.

Walking safari and Game Drive.

Nyerere (Selous)

Today you will start with early walking safari, accompanied by an armed ranger. Today's focus is to identify the habitats and tracks of different animals, insects, trees and birdlife. On your walk, you will see giraffe, zebra, elephant, colorful birds and plants. You will have enough time take photos of beautiful natural sceneries and animals. Lunch will be served in the park and later continue with game drive until sunset and return to the lodge.

Nyerere (Selous)

You begin a sunrise game drive at 6 in the morning for two hours and later return to the lodge for breakfast and chit chat. Later at 11 am you head for a game drive with packed lunch until the sun sets and return to the tented camp for overnight.
