Machame Gate to Machame Camp
Rising(ft.): (3,000m): 56,000ft Stretch: 11 km Hiking time: 5-7 hours According to the Machame Route departure dates and costs, it takes 50 minutes to get from Moshi to the Mount Kilimanjaro National Park Gate to begin our Kilimanjaro climbing. On their route to the Machame gate, hikers will travel through the settlement of Machame, which is located on the lower slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro. After leaving the park, the hiker(s) will head up a winding path through a rain forest.

Machame Camp to Shira Camp
• Rising (ft.): 10,200ft / 3,100m to 12,600ft / 3,840m • Stretch: 9 km • Hiking time: 4-6 hours • Climatic habitat: Moorland • Shelter: Full Board Shira Cave Camp After breakfast, we depart the rain forest's glades and proceed uphill, traversing the valley over a precarious rocky ridge. Until we reach the Shira campground, the trail now curves to the west via a river gorge.

• Barranco Camp to Barafu Camp (4600m) • Hiking time: 6-8 hours • Rising: 4000m / 13,000ft to 4700m / 15,350ft • Stretch: 9 km • Climatic habitat: Alpine Desert • Shelter: Barafu Camp As you gain elevation, the temperature will start to drop and you may experience some mild altitude sickness symptoms like headaches or nausea. Be sure to drink plenty of water and rest as needed. The Barranco Wall is a highlight of the trek, but it can be intimidating for some hikers.

Barafu Camp - Summit to Mweka Camp
• Rising (ft): 4700m/15,350ft to 5895m/19,343ft Down to 3090m/10,150ft • Stretch: 6 km up / 13 km down • Hiking Time: 5-7 hours up / 5-6 hours down • Climatic habitat: Arctic Hiker(s) and the team will begin their ascent of the summit very early in the morning (between midnight and two in the morning). The hiker(s) and the team will move northwest and climb through thick scree in the direction of Stella Point on the crater rim.
Mweka Camp
Mweka Camp to Moshi or Moshi
• Descend (ft): 3090m/10,150ft • Stretch: 10 km • Hiking time: 3-4 hours After breakfast, we continue the descent to the Mweka Park Gate, where you can pick up your summit certificates. It could be muddy and damp at lower altitudes. Trekking poles and gaiters will be useful. Most likely, shorts and t-shirts will suffice (keep rain gear and warmer clothing on hand).
