Day 1: Moshi to Mandara Hut
• Rising (ft): 6,046ft to 8,858ft • Stretch: 8 km • Climate: Rain Forest • Hiking time: 4-5 hours • Shelter: Mandara Hut Before starting our walk, the hiker(s) and the driver from Africa Natural Tours will go to the Kilimanjaro Marangu Gate to complete the required paperwork. Near the highest limit of the forest line, the trail climbs through a tropical rain forest where we occasionally spot jovial blue monkeys. Up until we arrive at the Mandara Hut campsite in mount Kilimanjaro.

Day 2: Mandara Hut to Horombo Hut
• Rising (ft.): 8,858ft to 12,205ft • Stretch: 12 km • Hiking time: 6-8 hours • Climate habitat: Heath / Moorland On the second day of our hike, we will ascend steeply through a woodland before emerging onto high moorland. We may get our first glimpses of the Kibo and Mawenzi peaks, two of the three volcanic peaks that make up Kilimanjaro's Marangu route summit, if the sky is clear and cloudless.

Day3: Mawenzi Hut to Horombo Hut
• Rising (ft.): 12,205ft to 14,160ft to 12,205ft • Stretch: 10 km • Hiking time: 3-5 hours • Climatic Habitat: Heath During this extra day, acclimatization takes place. We hike to Mawenzi Hut or all the way there and back up Mount Kilimanjaro. The unusual topography provides stunning views of Kibo and Mawenzi.

Day 4: Horombo Hut to Kibo Hut
• Rising (ft.): 12,205ft to 15,430ft • Stretch: 10 km • Hiking time: 6-8 hours • Climatic habitat: Alpine Desert In order to get to our campground, which is located at the base of the Kibo crater wall, hikers will progressively ascend on day four, then cross the lunar desert of the "Saddle" between Mawenzi and Kibo. After setting up camp, hikers can rest, eat a leisurely dinner, and get ready for their day of summit hiking on Kilimanjaro.

Day5: Uhuru Point to Horombo Hut
• Rising (ft): 15,430ft to 19,341ft to 12,205ft • Stretch: 22 km • Hiking time: 10-13 hours • Climatic habitat: Arctic The final push to reach the Roof of Africa starts when the hiker(s) and the team awaken in the middle of the night. The trail to Gilman's Point is very steep, so the ascent will be gradual. Uhuru Peak can be reached by traversing the crater rim from Gilman's. Before making their way all the way back to Horombo Hut, the hiker(s) and the team pause briefly at the summit.

day 6: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate
• Descend (ft): 12,205ft to 6,046ft • Stretch: 20 km • Hiking time: 5-7 hours • Climatic habitat: Rain Forest Today's hike will be long, but it will be mostly downhill. Hikers can pick up their certificates at the park headquarters at the Kilimanjaro Marangu Gate after which they can take a car transfer to their hotel in Moshi Kilimanjaro Tanzania.
