Day 1: Arrival, Meet & Greet with a Hotel Transfer

Journey time: 1 Hr

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will have a meet & greet conducted by our tour guide & thereafter enjoy your transfer to a pre-arranged hotel in Kampala City. Arrive at the hotel and spend the rest of the day at leisure.

Kampala City

Bordering the magnificent Lake Victoria, Uganda’s capital city - Kampala - sprawl out over a series of undulating hills and despite the development, this ‘Garden City’ is known for its tree-lined avenues. This bustling city serves as the commercial hub of the country boasting a blend of African markets, modern skyscrapers, international hotels, bars, and casinos. It provides an excellent base from which to explore the surrounding area. Visitors can look forward to learning about the country’s rich and colourful history at the Uganda Museum; enjoying a number of activities on Lake Victoria, Africa’s largest lake; and visiting the Namugongo Martyrs Shrines, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the nearby Mburo National Park to catch a glimpse of local wildlife including: hippo, zebra, gazelles, crocodiles, warthog, and variety of birdlife.

Day 2: Depart Kampala for Kibale National Park

Journey time: 5 – 6 Hrs

Early in the morning after breakfast, start your journey to Kibale National Park past Mubende and Fort Portal. Enjoy scenic views of the Rwenzori Mountains, Rwenzori Commodities tea estates and the Toro Palace. Arrive at your lodge in Kibale National Park and stay at leisure.

 Kibale Forest National Park

Located in southern Uganda, Kibale Forest National Park is said to be home to the highest density of primates in Africa. Although the highlight of the park is the habituated chimpanzees, the treetops are alive with all manner of monkey including: red-tailed monkey, L’Hoest's monkey, grey-cheeked mangabey, red colobus and black and white colobus monkeys are all spotted here. When you’re not searching for monkeys there are over 300 bird species and an incredible 250 species of butterfly to keep you busy. Visitors can look forward to chimp tracking, birding tours & guided nature walks.

Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking & Optional Activities

At 795 sq.km, this is home to over 351 tree species some over 200 years old, famous for 13 primate species including Chimpanzees, 70 mammals & over 375 bird species. In the morning, start off the day with breakfast and get ready for the day’s exciting activities.

Today you will do Chimpanzee tracking alongside a guided nature walk with an opportunity to see a variety of bird species (great blue turaco), & other primates like the Ugandan Mangabey, De brazza’s monkey & many more.

After lunch, visit Bigodi Community & interact with the locals. Then proceed to Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary & watch birds like; the African hobby, great blue turaco, Black kite, Swamp flycatcher, Scarlet-chested bird & many more. In the evening enjoy your dinner & a camp fire at the lodge.

Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary

The Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary is a community development enterprise located on the fringe of Kibale National Park where guided tours are conducted along a path through the wetland at time along boardwalk trail.  Bigodi is a birder's paradise with 138 bird species having been identified there including the crowd please Great Blue Turaco. The sanctuary is also home to 8 primate species including the black and white colobus, red colobus, Mangabey, red tail, vervet, and L’Hoest.

Day 4: Travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park

Journey time: 2 - 3 Hrs

Queen Elizabeth National Park is famous for diverse ecosystems which include sprawling savannah, shady humid forests, sparkling lakes, wetlands and amazing craters. Ideal for big game, primate species to include Chimps and over 600 bird species. It has superb scenic views of Kazinga Channel, the Rwenzori Mountains and crater lakes which are home to a variety of birds.

After breakfast, travel to Queen Elizabeth National Park & upon arrival after a stopover at the equator & a visit to Lake Katwe, you will head to the lodge for lunch.

After lunch, head out for a boat cruise on Kazinga Channel: As you cruise, spot a number of birds like; the African fish eagle, pelicans, flamingos, the African fin foot, pied kingfishers, vultures, kites & many more, alongside animals like hippos, buffalos, warthogs, crocodiles, waterbucks and more with stunning views of the Mweya peninsular and a local fishing village on the lake shore.

In the evening feel free to go for a Dusk Game Drive with chances of spotting nocturnal animals of this unique national park such as leopards.

Queen Elizabeth National Park

Surrounded by other wonderful parks in the western region of Uganda, the Queen Elizabeth National Park is known for its rich biodiversity, wildlife and history. In the southern part of the park, the remote Ishasha sector is home to tree-climbing lions that spend long lazy days dozing in the pretty fig trees.  The Uganda Kob, which they watch from the branches, grazes the plains. Around Lake Edward, enjoy fishing and game watching - make sure to look out for chimpanzees, elephants, crocodiles, and perennial and migratory bird species.

Buffalo Safari Lodge is located at the magical Kazinga Channel 1km off Kasese Mbarara road with spectacular views the Kazinga Channel and the savannah plains of Queen Elizabeth National Park. Day 5: Proceed to Bwindi via Ishasha Sector

Journey time: 4 - 5 Hrs

After breakfast, have your lunch packed and embark on your journey to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park via Ishasha with chances of spotting the tree climbing lions along the way. Located in the southern part of Queen Elizabeth National Park, Ishasha will offer you an unforgettable of experience as it is composed of riverine and open Savannah alongside the acacia and fig trees.

Encounter the Tree climbing lions; tree climbing lions are often spotted hanging high up in the big fig trees from where they enjoy their prey while trying to avoid bites from tsetse flies & other ground insects. Enjoy views of other animals like elephants, buffalos, antelopes, Uganda Kob, impalas, waterbucks, warthogs, & elands. Proceed to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park arriving for lunch & the rest of today at leisure.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest

Located in south-western Uganda, the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest is said to be Africa’s oldest rainforest. It is world-renowned for its excellent gorilla-sighting opportunities. The rugged landscape features dense jungle, cascading waterfalls, sparkling mountain streams, deep valleys and steep ridges. This untouched forest has been declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site because of its breathtaking natural beauty and unique ecological significance. Aside from the amazing gorilla interactions, there are other draw cards such as a network of forest walks, over 340 species of bird to spot and a variety of butterflies. Don’t miss the opportunity to explore the spectacular Virunga Volcanoes.

Day 6: Gorilla Tracking with Optional Activities

At 331 sq.km, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is home to half the world’s mountain gorillas, over 346 bird species, 202 butterfly species, 400 plant species, 63 tree species, 120 mammal species & 27 frog species. Here is the chance to meet and interact with the shortest people (Batwa) of the mountains.

After an early breakfast, head to the park headquarters for briefing at exactly 8:00 am for registration and briefing by the ranger guides about the activity. Gorilla tracking starts at 8:30 am & can last a few hours to a whole day depending on where the gorillas were left the previous day.

In the evening feel free to stay at leisure or opt for a community tour, with visits to the Batwa Communities & learn about their way of life.

Buhoma Community Village Walk

This walk provides guests with an opportunity to support the local community whilst enjoying visiting various interesting places as you follow a walking trail through the village. Highlights include the traditional healer, banana brewery and Mukono Primary school where you may interact with the children.

Day 7: Scenic Trip to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Journey time: 3 - 4 Hrs

Enjoy your breakfast on a leisurely morning and later travel to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, arrive at the lodge & check-in for lunch.

After lunch you may choose to stay at leisure or go for optional activities & explore more about the surrounding communities: The Batwa trail: Discover the traditional ways of the shortest people of the Gahinga Mountains.

Mgahinga Gorilla National Park

Located in south-western Uganda, in the Kisoro District, the Mgahinga Gorilla National Park forms part of the much larger Virunga Conservation Area. This wilderness sanctuary was created to protect the rare mountain gorillas that inhabit its dense forests. The striking landscape boasts three conical volcanoes which are a part of the magnificent Virunga Range which fringes Uganda, Rwanda, and Congo. Aside from the main attraction which is the mountain gorillas, the park is home to buffaloes, elephants, endangered golden monkeys and many of bird species. The three extinct volcanoes offer plenty of hiking trails.

Nestled at the base of the Virunga Volcanoes, Mount Gahinga Lodge is a stunning luxury adventure lodge hidden in the southern corner of Uganda. Its rustic charm is inspired by traditional design and building techniques. Mount Gahinga Lodge is the perfect base to go gorilla tracking, track the rare golden monkey, climb a volcano, and walk through local villages and most of all to share the culture of the Batwa, the oldest inhabitants of the Central African rain forest. The lodge with its beautiful living room, sun room and terrace has fantastic views of the volcanoes and the Kisoro valley below.

Day 8: Golden Monkey tracking & Bird watching

You will have breakfast at the lodge & then go explore the rare Golden Monkeys.

Proceed to the Park headquarters by 7:30 am for briefing & the actual trek will commence at 8:00 am. Hiking through the forests to reach the golden monkeys is less tedious as golden monkeys live in the lower bamboo areas. Spend an hour with the golden primates for a superb photography & a clear observation of unique their behaviour.

Come along with waterproof hiking boots, wear long sleeved shirt, long trousers, and carry a backpack for your lunch and documents and do not forget to carry an insect repellent.

Day 9: Journey to Kigali, brief City Tour & Departure

Journey Time: 4 - 5 Hrs

After breakfast, depart Mgahinga crossing the boarder to Kigali-Rwanda & upon arrival enjoy a brief city tour, with visits to Kigali genocide memorial site.

This site provided an opportunity to offer a place in which the bereaved could bury their families and friends, and over 250,000 victims are now buried at the site. It also includes 3 permanent exhibitions, the largest of which documents the genocide in 1994.

There is also a children's memorial, & an exhibition on the history of genocidal violence around the world. The Education Centre, Memorial Gardens & National Documentation Centre of the Genocide all contribute to a meaningful tribute to those who perished, & form a powerful educational tool for the next generation. After this memorable excursion, you will transfer to Kigali International Airport to check in for your outbound departure.

Kigali City Tour

Get to know this beautiful and amazing city. The Go Kigali City Tour is the best way to see and experience Kigali! Stops include: a trip to the top of Mt. Kigali for views of the city and the countryside, a milk bar, a neighbourhood market, a mural walk, a great Rwandan lunch, the best coffee around, a ride on a water taxi, a neighbourhood walk and ends at the Kigali Genocide Memorial.

Kigali Genocide Memorial & Museum

Located just outside of Kigali City Centre in the Gasabo district, Kigali Genocide Memorial & Museum was created by a joint partnership of the Kigali City Council and the UK-based Aegis Trust. The centre is an extremely moving, challenging, educational and ultimately inspiring as well as a great place to understand the cause, tragedy and successful rebuilding post-genocide. The memorial hosts a tour which is transparent and educational but very sombre and humbling when guests realise that over 250,000 deceased are buried on the site of the memorial.
