Itinerary

Day 1

Mikumi

Day 1:Dar es Salaam to Mikumi National Park:                                                                              Depart very early from Dar es salaam at 0700am to Mikumi National Park which is approximately 4.5 hours drive from Dar es Salaam. Hot lunch at Morogoro Town. Arrival at the park for afternoon game drives in Mikumi National Park. Mikumi National Park is Tanzania’s fourth – largest National Park and the most accessible from Dar es Salaam. Within its 3230 sq. km its set between the Uluguru Mountains to the north and the Lumango Mountains to the south-east. Mikumi hosts buffaloes, giraffes, elephants, lions, pythons, Zebras, Leopards, Crocodiles and Hippos just to mention a few. Game drive in the park till late in the evening then drive back to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2

Mikumi

Day 2: Mikumi National Park-Udzungwa Mountains National Park:                                                After early breakfast depart from Mikumi to Udzungwa arrival after 2 hours. Do the registration formalities at the park gate then with your mountain guide start trekking leads to the spectacular trail up to Sanje waterfalls. The most popular trail in Udzungwa is Sanje Waterfall. This 200m waterfall is very impressive surrounded by rain forest with excellent views over the Kilombero floodplain 180m. At the top, there are two more waterfalls, both impressive, and you can swim in the cool waters of their plunge pools. This trek can be done by an enthusiastic hiker in half a day, heading quickly up the escarpment and back down again. We usually recommend a more leisurely approach, heading up the mountain in the morning, taking lunch out to swim during the heat of the day. Then you can follow the trail around the side of the escarpment and head back down the mountainside in the afternoon. Thereafter drive back to Mikumi arrival for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3

Mikumi

Day 3: Mikumi National Park-Dar es Salaam:                                                                                   After an early breakfast, have a sunrise game drive in Mikumi National Park, then with picnic lunches go on game drive until the afternoon. Later you will drive back to Dar es Salaam and arrive around 1700 hrs. End of Safari
