Nyerere (Selous)
Day 1: Zanzibar or Dar es Salaam to Selous Game Reserve: Depart Zanzibar at 0800hours. You will be in Dar es Salaam at 0830hours and by flight it will take just 45min to an airstrip in Selous Game Reserve. At Siwandu Airstrip meet and greet then proceed with the game drive en route to your camp having a chance to see a lot of wildlife like Lions, Elephants, Buffalo, Antelopes, Zebras and many more arrival Arrive for lunch at the camp, relax till late in the afternoon around 0430pm and then proceed with a boat game drive until sunset. You have a chance to enjoy the beautiful scenery with a lot of wild animals and many species of birds about 1-2 hours. Can expect to see hippo, crocodile, maybe other animals coming to drink, and about 40 species of birds. Some birds, like osprey, are more likely to be seen on the lake; others, like white-fronted bee eaters, are more numerous on the channel. Thereafter you will drive back to the camp have dinner and overnight.
Day 2
Nyerere (Selous)
Day 2: Selous Game Reserve Game Drive: Early breakfast then proceed to full day game drive in the Selous Game Reserve. Due to the diversity of its wildlife and undisturbed nature The reserve is home to the typical savannah animals such as large numbers of elephants, black rhinos, cheetahs, giraffes, hippos and crocodiles and the rare African Wild Dog. This immense sanctuary, which measures 50,000 sq. km, practically undisturbed by human impact. The park has a variety of vegetation zones, ranging from dense thickets to open wooded grasslands. The full day drive usually goes towards the Beho Beho area, with a packed lunch. The vegetation in this area is different from the Manze area, being more open plains. In the afternoon a stop can be made at the Maji Moto hot springs. There are three pools: very hot, hot and warm. If you wish, you may take a swim in the lowest pool – or the middle pool if you can stand it! Game drive till late in the afternoon then back to the camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Nyerere (Selous)
Day 3: Selous GR(Walking Safari & Game Drive) Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar: Generally the early morning is the coolest time of the day. Walkers leave after a cup of tea/coffee, and eat breakfast on their return to camp. The walk usually lasts for about 2 hours, and can cover up to 3 km in the area around the camp. The purpose of a walking safari is not to get close to animals. You get closer to animals when in a vehicle. The purpose of a walking safari is to see their tracks, their dung, to see plants and trees, and generally to enjoy being in nature without a vehicle. After breakfast with your lunch box proceed with game drive en-route to the Siwandu Airstip. You will be able to see as many wildlife as the nature could produce like Lions, Giraffes, Crocodiles, Hippopotamus just to mention a few, arrival in time for your flight at 1230pm back to Dar es Salaam or Zanzibar island.
