Itinerary

Day 1

Chobe

Day 1:           Pangolin Chobe Hotel, Chobe River Front        Chobe River Front The Chobe River forms the northern boundary of the Chobe National Park, renowned for its diverse and abundant game viewing opportunities. This section of the park is best known for its dense concentration of wildlife including elephant and hippo populations, but the waters attract all manner of game including large herds of buffalo and the lions that prey on them. A visit to this area guarantees close encounters with an array of African wildlife. Visitors can look forward to some exciting activities such as: driving along the game-dotted river banks in a 4WD; cruising along the river in a motorboat, spotting rare birdlife and for a unique, luxury safari experience, hire a houseboat. Overnight: Pangolin Chobe Hotel  The Pangolin Chobe Hotel was a labour of love over eleven months by Guts and his team working long long days and often into the night to turn a desolate abandoned shell of a building into one of the most innovative and captivating structures in the whole of Botswana. Pangolin has always been an innovative company offering a safari experience above and beyond the normal “cookie cutter” safari. Traditional lodges built with wood and thatch are all well and good and certainly have their place but the Pangolin Chobe Hotel challenges the norm incorporating bold design with best environmental practices and a sense of welcoming inclusion from the moment you arrive. The centrepiece of the building is the wildlife photography gallery, of which all fourteen rooms lead. The gallery features an array of images from our resident photographic guides and other top wildlife photographers who visit us frequently with their guests to enjoy The Chobe. Each image has been chosen to showcase differing photographic styles and techniques to inspire budding (and seasoned) photographers to think differently about their compositions. At the end of the gallery, you will find the editing suite for post-production sessions. Basis Fully Inclusive - Bed, All Meals, Fees and Activities All Local Brands (Spirits, Wine and Beers) Included

Day 3:           Savute Safari Lodge, Savuti - Chobe National Park   Savuti - Chobe National Park Savuti, also known as Savute lies in the heart of Botswana’s beautiful Chobe National Park. This dynamic wilderness is a sweeping expanse of savannah brooded over by several rocky outcrops which guard a relic marsh and the dry channel that was once its lifeline. The Savute goes through wet and dry cycles, where wild dogs hunt in the dry river channel where crocodiles swam only twenty years ago. Visitors to this spectacular area can spot abundant wildlife including: a variety of birds, elephants, antelope, lion prides, black-backed jackal, bat-eared foxes, tsessebe, kudu, hyena, cheetah Cape buffalo herds, and thousands of migrating zebra and wildebeest.   Overnight: Savute Safari Lodge  To ensure a private and relaxing environment, Savute Safari Lodge accommodates just twenty four guests in eleven thatched chalets built of local timber and one family room which consists of two double bedrooms. The chalets, which have been elegantly furnished in calm neutral tones to blend with the natural environment, feature expansive private decks, a combined bedroom and lounge area and en suite facilities. Savute Safari Lodge offers a shaded viewing deck, an al fresco dining area and swimming pool with spectacular pool loungers – ideal for watching the varied wildlife – including the resident Elephants – as they make their way to the Channel to drink, bathe and play. Activities are organised around game drives throughout the Savute area in open 4x4 safari vehicles. Many trips will incorporate a visit to the Savute Marsh to give you a chance to see the historic presence of the Savute Channel at the marsh against a backdrop of teeming wildlife. Day 5:           African Bush Camps Khwai Tented Camp, Khwai Community Area    Khwai Community Area The Khwai area of the Okavango lies along the northern boundary of the Moremi Game Reserve.  This is an unfenced boundary allowing wildlife to move freely between the woodlands in the wet season when water is plentiful and back to permanent rivers and lagoons in the dry season. The Khwai area offers the same wildlife experience as the reserve with the added advantage of being a private concession which means the ability to do walking safaris and night drives.   Overnight: African Bush Camps Khwai Tented Camp  Khwai Tented Camp has modern and spacious Serengeti-style tents, with stylish and comfortable interiors and private bathrooms with running water. The camp maintains a genuine safari camp feel. The camp comprises of 6 elegant tents perched on wooden decking overlooking the tranquil waters of the lagoon. The camp exudes the charm and aura of the old Africa in a new era, and provides a truly authentic African safari experience. The camp offers visitors several unique ways to experience Africa. Besides the day-time drives which can feature Africa’s big attractions – lion, cheetah, leopard, wild dog, elephant, buffalo, hippo and giraffe – guests at Khwai Tented Camp are able to explore nature after sunset with a night drive. This activity, along with the guided walking safaris, is not usually permitted in the National Parks or Game Reserves, and allows guests to get an up close and personal experience with some of Africa’s nocturnal and / or more elusive animals. The camp also provides the opportunity to explore the great stands of leadwood and mopane woodlands as well as open grasslands and banks of the Khwai River on foot.
