Safari summary
Amboseli National Park – Amboseli belongs in the elite of Kenya’s national parks, and it’s easy to see why. Its signature attraction is the sight of hundreds of big-tusked elephants set against the backdrop of Africa’s best views of Mt Kilimanjaro (5895m). Africa’s highest peak broods over the southern boundary of the park, and while cloud cover can render the mountain’s massive bulk invisible for much of the day, you’ll be rewarded with stunning vistas when the weather clears, usually at dawn and/or dusk. Apart from guaranteed elephant sightings, you’ll also see wildebeest and zebras, and you have a reasonable chance of spotting lions, cheetahs and hyenas. The park is also home to over 370 bird species, and it has an excellent array of lodges and an agreeably mild, dry climate.

Itinerary
Day 1
Amboseli | Kilimanjaro | Nairobi
Day 1: Nairobi - Amboseli 07:30 hrs. We will pick you up from your Nairobi Hotel, residence or the Nairobi airport. We’ll head out in your private 4 x 4 Jeep, on the Nairobi-Mombasa Highway. This is a relaxing drive through African savannah country, with local homesteads punctuating the vast plain. Watch for Maasai herdsmen, draped in their colorful wraps as they tend to their flocks. We should arrive in Amboseli National Park in the late morning. Entering the park, you can’t miss the wall of the mountain to the south – this is legendary Mt. Kilimanjaro, known as the “roof of Africa”, rising to 19,000 feet. It’s the continent’s tallest peak and the highest free-standing mountain in the world. This is the backdrop to much of the park’s wildlife and always a gift to photographers, so have your camera ready for the next 3 days! We’ll enjoy lunch at your accommodation and then head out for an afternoon game drive. Amboseli is known for its relative ease in wildlife spotting. All of Africa’s Big Five are here as well as zebra, giraffe, cheetah, warthog, ostrich and many more. Toward evening, the cloud cover obscuring Kilimanjaro’s snow-capped summit may clear, giving us one of Africa’s most striking vistas. Dinner and overnight at a tented camp or lodge of your choice Accommodation: Sentrim Amboseli Lodge or similar Meal Plan: Lunch and Dinner
Day 2
Amboseli | Kilimanjaro
Day 2: Amboseli Full Day We like to rise early while on safari to set an adventurous tone for the day. We’ll watch the light breaking upon the park and catch the wildlife as it appears on the savannah. Our next assignment: breakfast! And then another morning game drive through the park. One of the advantages of Amboseli is that the terrain is open with thin foliage. This makes the game spotting easier. We’ll be watching for lion and leopard and the park’s almost ever-present great parade of elephants. Seeing the magnificent elephants patrolling in line before the majesty of Kilimanjaro is a special treat of this reserve. Lunch at your accommodation is next and perhaps some relaxing time. The day is yours to pace as you want. Should you want to fill your day with unlimited game drives, your guide is available to make that happen as well. Dinner and overnight at a tented camp or lodge of your choice Accommodation: Sentrim Amboseli Lodge or similar Meal Plan: Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
Day 3
Amboseli | Kilimanjaro
Day 3: Amboseli - Nairobi Our final day in the park and we want to squeeze in all the game viewing we can. We’ll start on a pre-breakfast safari and see who we can check off our list. Don’t forget to look for the smaller animals here like hyenas, foxes, jackals, and monkeys. There’s also a colorful variety of rich birdlife in the park – pelican, kingfisher, egret, and heron are found near the park’s marshes and lakes. We’ll enjoy one more Amboseli breakfast, with views of great Kilimanjaro and then a final game drive as we exit the reserve. Accommodation: Not included Meal Plan: Breakfast
