Safari summary
The sun will be nearly at its peak when you arrive at Lake Manyara. Entering the park, you’re immediately struck by the size of the lake - its huge surface taking up roughly two-thirds of the park’s total area. It’s a soda lake - meaning it’s very salty - but it has a productive ecosystem. There was no wind today, and so the surface glinted smooth and silver under the midday sun.
Start from Arusha and end at Kilimanjaro International Airport

On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you’ll meet Mr. Khalid who will drive with you for about 90 minutes to your hotel in Arusha. Look out for iconic views of Mount Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru on the way. If you arrive early, there will be time for you to spend like visiting a market in town or simply relaxing by the pool. After a tasty dinner in your hotel, you will spend your first night in Tanzania relaxing before heading off on your self-drive safari the following morning.

Not only is that when it is quietest, but the lighting conditions are at their best, and the resident animals are at their most active too. Have morning coffee and breakfast on the crater floor before going on an unforgettable game drive. Take your lunch next to a hippo pool, and then continue your drive looking out for The Big Five, including the rare black rhino.
