Murchison Falls National park is Uganda’s largest park, situated in Northwestern Uganda on an area of 3,840 sq km, gazetted in 1926 as a game reserve. It is classified with Savannah grasslands, and the Victoria Nile that flows through into two (the northern and southern bank).

Murchison Falls is home to over 451 bird species such as the Great blue Turaco, Goliath heron, the Shoebill, and the dwarf kingfisher among others, 76 mammal species, a big number of Nile crocodiles and above all the magnificent and thunderous Murchison Falls squeezing their way through a gorge that is 8m wide. All said, you will have an opportunity to enjoy both the game drives and the boat cruises along the Nile River.

Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1: Kampala to Murchison falls The guide will pick you up from an agreed location and transfer to Murchison falls national park. En-route, you can opt for an optional visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary – the only place where you can see Rhinos in Uganda. Proceed to Masindi for lunch and continue to Murchison falls national park arriving in the afternoon. You will enter the park through Kichumbanyobo gate and visit the top of the falls after which you will proceed to your lodge for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 2

Day 2: Game drive and launch cruise Breakfast will be served early and go for a game drive in hope of seeing some of the big five including lions, buffaloes and elephants. Giraffes are a common sight including other small game like antelopes, impalas and primates like the baboons. Have lunch and in the afternoon, go for a launch cruise on the park’s unique Murchison falls where you will come up close with hippos and a serried range of giant crocodiles. The launch cruise also presents bird viewing opportunities. Dinner and overnight at agreed lodge.

Day 3

Murchison Falls

Day 3: Murchison Falls to Kampala You will enjoy breakfast and drive back to Kampala via Masindi town. Drop off at your hotel in Kampala or Entebbe airport for your onward flight. A visit to Murchison falls national park is always worth and much rewarding. The atmosphere, the wildlife, and facilities are all awesome!
