Itinerary
Day 1
Arusha
Day 1 Arrival Our driver will meet on your arrival to Arusha and drive you to Villa Poa or similar for your dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2
Arusha
Day 2 Visit to an Authentic Maasai Village Start your drive towards Longido after an early lunch. Stop on the way to purchase some gifts (e.g. sugar, oil, notebooks, pencils) for the villagers. Spend the day observing or taking part to the everyday life of the villagers. This is a village that is not spoiled by hundreds of tourists visiting them for a staged show but the villagers live their normal lives with daily routines. If your visit happens on Saturday you will also have the chance of visiting a Maasai market where the tribe members gather to buy and sell their cattle and produce. Early evening start your drive back to Arusha and Villa Poa or similar for your dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3
Arusha | Tarangire
Day 3 Arusha – Tarangire NP Around 8:30am, after breakfast at Villa Poa you will be picked up by our driver-guide. Start your approx. 2hrs drive to Tarangire National Park. Good location near the main road, only about 100 km from Arusha and the diversity of animals and vegetation make Tarangire one of the best parks in Tanzania. Game drive starts the moment you enter the park. Enjoy picnic lunch at one of the picnic sites followed by more game drive until early evening. Exit the park and drive for your dinner and overnight stay at Migombani Camp.
Day 4
Lake Manyara
Day 4 Lake Manyara NP After breakfast drive to Lake Manyara NP for a day of game drives. Lunch in the park. The loveliest I have seen in Africa” said the novelist Ernest Hemingway about Lake Manyara. It’s a small park with stunning and versatile scenery. The most famous habitants are the tree-climbing lions. It is a park with very high density of elephants and it is in fact a place where you are most likely to have a close encounter with them. Lake Manyara is also the home to the largest concentration of baboons anywhere in the world. Early evening exit the park and drive for your dinner and overnight stay at Migombani Camp.
Day 5
Serengeti
Day 5 Serengeti NP After breakfast at the camp you'll drive to the entrance gate of Ngorongoro. After gate formalities start your drive through Ngorongoro Highlands to Serengeti National Park with game drive along the way. Arrive to Serengeti around lunch time. Afternoon game drive. The Serengeti’s endless plains provide an exceptional landscape for wildlife viewing. You will be able to spot large herds of wildebeest, zebras and different kinds of antelopes. And where there are herbivores you’ll also find the predators. As the locals say: “Serengeti will never die”. Late afternoon arrive for your dinner and overnight stay at Seronera public campsite.
Day 6
Serengeti
Day 6 Serengeti Full day of game drives in Serengeti. You can either take with you packed lunch in the morning or return to the campsite for hot lunch followed by more game drive until early evening. Spend the day in the vast plains looking for the best spots to observe the abundant wildlife. Dinner and overnight stay at Seronera public campsite.
Day 7
Serengeti
Day 7 Serengeti National Park – Ngorongoro Sunrise game drive in Serengeti. Return to your accommodation for breakfast. Start gradually driving towards Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Afternoon game drive in Ngorongoro Highlands. The area consists of vast highland plains, savannah, savannah woodlands and forests. Ngorongoro is host to the largest ungulate herds in the world, including gnu (wildebeests), plains zebras, and Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelles. Predatory animals include lions, spotted hyenas, leopards, and cheetahs. Late afternoon arrive for your dinner and overnight stay at Simba public campsite.
Day 8
Ngorongoro Crater
Day 8 Ngorongoro Crater – Lake Eyasi Get up early at 6 AM to descend into Ngorongoro Crater for a day of wildlife viewing. Early morning is the best time to glimpse big cats on the hunt. The Crater is an actual Noah's ark and often referred as the eighth wonder of the world. It has the highest density of animals in Africa. This is the park to see the Big5 in one day. The resident population of black rhino is a real treat, as rhinos are very difficult to spot elsewhere in Tanzania. It is also home to some very impressive elephant bulls with huge tusks. In the afternoon ascend the crater and drive to Lake Eyasi. Dinner and overnight stay camping at Eyasi Bush Camp.
Day 9
Arusha
Day 9 Lake Eyasi – Arusha Head out to go hunting at 5:30am with the Hadzabe Bushmen, one of the last hunter-gatherer tribes left in Africa. On the hunt you will need to be able to keep up with the Hadza men. The men run through the bush, and be aware that if they find an animal to hunt, they will do so. This is their livelihood so you are asked to be as inconspicuous as possible to not to disturb their hunt. If you feel the hunting aspect is not for you it is possible to spend time with the women of the tribe and learn about the gatherer side of their traditions and skills. After the Hadzabe tour visit the Blacksmiths who weld bangles and arrow heads, and the Datoga tribe, who are nomadic cattle herders. In the afternoon, after lunch we will drive back to Arusha for your dinner and overnight stay at Villa Poa.
Day 10
Day 10 Departure Our driver will pick you up and drive you to airport to catch your flight.
