Itinerary
Day 1
Bwindi Impenetrable
Day 1: Kampala – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park Today you will be picked by our guide from your accommodation in Kampala or Entebbe after which you will embark on your journey to the famous Bwindi impenetrable National park; this is a journey that crosses the equator line. This park is mostly famous for the rare mountain gorillas and the drive to the park is incredibly scenic, passing through various local villages and the lush green countryside & hills which characterize so much of south western Uganda. Once you are in the forest park, it is one of the richest ecosystems in Africa and the diversity of species is a feature of the park. It provides habitat for some 120 species of mammals, 348 species of birds, 220 species of butterflies, 27 species of frogs, chameleons, geckos and many endangered species. Floristically Bwindi is amongst the most diverse forests in East Africa, with more than 1,000 flowering plant species including 163 species of trees and 104 species of ferns. The journey takes 10 hours.
Day 2
Bwindi Impenetrable
Day 2: Early morning Gorilla tracking and Afternoon Batwa Trail Experience Today you go to track the rare mountain gorillas. After a briefing from your ranger guide, begin tracking the mountain gorillas through the ancient Bwindi Impenetrable Forest. This can take a couple of hours or a whole day depending on the location of the apes. Keep an eye out for forest species such as buffaloes, elephants, black fronted duikers and bush bucks. NB: Do not forget to carry your packed lunches. It is a humbling experience to stand just meters from man’s distant cousins as they eat rest, play and bond with their young. Follow the mountain gorillas as they range freely in the impenetrable forest and discover their gorgeous natural habitat and the many species they share it with. The Gorilla group you will track belongs to one of the habituated family group (Nkuringo family) who can tolerate the presence of humans for a brief period every day. After a well-earned trip to the gorillas, you will drive back to your accommodation for relaxation and then be back for the Batwa Cultural Trail where you get to visit the Pygmy community of Bwindi. After here, you go back to the Lodge for Dinner and Overnight.
