Day 1

Arusha | Lake Manyara

Day 1: Moshi or Arusha – Lake Manyara National Park After we pick you up from from your hostel/hotel in Moshi or Arusha , we will drive across the floor of the Great Rift Valley to Lake Manyara National Park. This small beautiful gem of a park with its lush vegetation and tropical forests of giant fig trees and mahogany trees, takes its name from the Masai word for “euphorbia tirucalli”, a wild bush which is used to make a thorny hedge to protect their cattle locally known as a boma. This small gem of a national park hosts herds of elephants, buffalo, Masai giraffes, zebras and a variety of antelopes that inhabit the park. There is also a variety of different species of monkeys and a large population of hippos that roam in and around the lake. If you are lucky, you might also spot the legendary lions of Lake Manyara National Park that are well known for their tree climbing habits and lazily resting on the branches of “acacia tortilis” trees. The bird life is also abundant with flamingos, pelicans, horn bills and many forest species. In the late afternoon your driver will take you to Eileen’s Tree Inn at Karatu where you will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay. Packed lunch and dinner included.

Day 2

Lake Manyara | Serengeti

Day 2: Lake Manyara - Serengeti National Park After breakfast, we will proceed through the Ngorongoro Conservation Area traversing the Malanja depression towards Serengeti ~ one of the most famous wildlife conservation areas in the world. First you will make a brief stop at the Naabi Hill Gate where you can go for a short walk and stretch your legs at the Naabi Hill Kopjes (huge granite boulders) while your guide submits the necessary paper work. After a picnic lunch, we will continue on an all-afternoon game drive through the vast Serengeti National Park, named after the ancient Masai word ‘siringet’, which translates to ‘endless plains’. Truly the plains are endless indeed. We will enjoy an overnight stay at Serengeti Thorntree Camp. All meals included.

Day 3

Serengeti

Day 3: Serengeti – Ngorongoro Conservation Area Early morning game drive at Serengeti and visit to the hippo pools and Seronera Visitor’s Center if you wish. After a hearty breakfast in the bush camp you will then proceed with your game drives in the Serengeti back tracking towards Naabi Hill Gate again until early afternoon time to cross over back to the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you reach your lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Overnight will be back at the nice mid range lodge in Karatu; the Eileen’s Tree Inn. All meals included.

Day 4

Arusha | Ngorongoro Crater

Day 4: Ngorongoro Crater – Return to Moshi or Arusha After an early morning breakfast, we register again at the Loduare Main Gate and descend into the crater for a wonderful game drive followed by lunch at a designated picnic site. With its 2,000 ft high walls, very few animals migrate in and out of the Ngorongoro Crater so you can expect to see many animals at very close range including lions, zebras, hippos, elephants, jackals, rhinos, antelopes, flamingos and many other birds. Your safari guide will be in constant contact with other safari drivers and will surely amaze you with his unique skills in locating the hidden animals. Following the game drive you will delivered back to your hotel in Moshi or Arusha. Breakfast and lunch provided.
