Itinerary

Day 1

Day 1 On your grand arrival at the Entebbe International Airport you will be met by your AAS guide. Having passed immigration and luggage collection please exit the arrival hall and look out for your guide who will be holding up a signboard mentioning your name and featuring the logo of Around Africa Safari then you will depart for Jinja. Several Kilometers down stream from the ‘The Source’, the White Nile takes its first big step down along the 6,300 kilometer journey to the Mediterranean Sea. The cascade that forms the first big step is called Bujagali Falls, ‘Budhagali’ in Lusoga, the language of the Busoga people who live in this area on the east bank of the Nile. Here the river is split into 7 channels. Over many generations Budhagali has been a sacred site for the Busoga people and it is not uncommon to see witchdoctors and others coming down to the riverbanks to make sacrifices and leave offerings to the spirits who live by the river and in the large mvule trees nearby. After lunch goes down to Budhagali Falls – the thick riparian woodland here is rewarding for birds You will have a chance to visit the Source of the Nile; this is where Speke became the first European to see the Nile’s source in 1862. There is also a memorial to Ghandi, as this is where his ashes were scattered… Should there be time, we’ll take a drive through Jinja town itself. Wild waters Lodge or Gately on the Nile (L,D,B)

Day 2

Zambezi

Day 2 After breakfast depart for the Quad-biking from Budhagali Falls. All Terrain Adventures offer guided safaris ranging from 1 or 2 hours. The safaris are unique to this part of the world making it possible for; groups, families and individuals to get off the beaten track, see special parts of the Nile and the farms, forest and villages beside the river. Your AAS Safari Guide will collect you from your hotel and drive you to Jinja to go wild water rafting on the mighty river Nile. The White Nile has up to seven times the volume of the Zambezi. It thunders between heavily forested islands and then leaps widely into a series of spectacular drops. You will plunge into the rapids and ride the mountainous waves downstream whilst relaxing and swimming in warm pools in the equatorial sunshine during parts of the trip. This is white water rafting at its best! You will be given an introduction before departing with large rubber boats taking eight people and a guide. A safety boat is accompanying you all throughout the trip so you can enjoy the thrill and exhilaration of world-class white water rafting in the security of knowing that you are in the safest hands. The river is full of grade five rapids so be prepared to hold your breath when plunging into the rapids! Besides the adrenaline rush the rural scenery along the river sides make for an exhilarating day. A delicious buffet lunch on a private island in the middle of the Nile will be served. At the end of the rafting trip you will meet your AAS guide again who will return you to Kampala.
