Day 1
Day 1: Collect your keys Upon arrival at the airport you’ll collect your hire car and then you’ll drive to your Cape Town accommodation. This afternoon you may wish to explore Cape Town’s Victoria and Alfred Waterfront which sits right in the middle of a picturesque working harbour with Table Mountain as its backdrop or enjoy a sunset cocktail at one of the trendy bars or restaurants along the promenade at Camps Bay. Day 2
Day 2: At leisure in Cape Town Today is a free day to enjoy Cape Town. You may wish to summit Table Mountain in a rotating cable car, visit the District Six Museum and Robben Island to discover more about South Africa’s political history and Nelson Mandela’s legacy, or take a wonder down iconic Long Street which is famous for its bohemian vibe. Day 3
Day 3: At leisure in Cape Town Today you’ll have another free day to explore Cape Town and the surrounding area. As you have your own car you could also visit Cape Point which is located at the tip of the Cape Peninsula, 60 km south-west of Cape Town and offers some of the most breathtaking ocean and mountain scenery in the world. During your visit to Cape Point you can take photographs from the dramatic viewpoints, learn about the maritime history, walk the shipwreck trail, spot cape mountain zebra and eland, watch whales move past Cape Point on their annual migration (June to October), or take the Flying Dutchman Funicular to see the old lighthouse and enjoy the panoramic views. Day 4
Day 4: Cape Town to Franschhoeck Today you’ll leave Cape Town and drive for just one hour to the small, picturesque town of Franschhoek in the stunning Cape Winelands. Day 6
Day 6: Franschhoeck to Oudtshoorn After breakfast you’ll leave Franschhoek and drive to Oodtshoon situated on the edge of the famous Garden Route. You’ll stay at a luxurious guest house in a breath-taking location surrounded by the Swartberg and Outeniqua mountains. During your time in Oodtshoon you can join a wild meerkat tour, hike in the mountains, visit an ostrich farm, discover the Cango Caves and nearby waterfalls or enjoy a relaxing massage. Day 7
Day 7: Oudtshoorn to Plettenberg Bay From Oodtshoon you’ll drive along the stunning Garden Route to the charming and tranquil town of Plettenberg Bay where you can enjoy breathtaking scenery and beautiful views over the Indian Ocean. Day 8
Day 8: Plettenberg Bay Today you’ll have a free day to enjoy Plettenberg Bay and the surrounding area. You may wish to relax on the endless sandy beaches, kayak with dolphins, explore the dramatic rocky peninsula, lagoons and estuaries, enjoy a round of golf at one of the 18-hole championship courses, hike in the lush mountains, or if you’re feeling adventurous you can glide from tree to tree 30 metres in the air on a canopy tour in the Tsitsikamma rainforest. Day 10
Day 10: Plettenberg Bay to Amakhala Game Reserve After breakfast you’ll leave Plettenberg Bay and drive along the coast, via picturesque St Francis Bay, to Amakhala Game Reserve. A guide will meet you at the entrance of the reserve and you’ll transfer from your rental vehicle to the lodge's 4x4 Land Cruiser. Once settled in to your luxury safari lodge you’ll enjoy an afternoon game drive with sundowners overlooking Amakhala's spectacular landscape, before returning to the lodge for a delicious dinner. Day 11
Day 11-12: Two Days on Safari Today you’ll have two exhilarating game drives within the Amakhala Game Reserve. You’re likely to see herds of elephant, plus lion, leopard, cheetah, black and white rhino and an abundance of other wildlife. There are also opportunities for night drives, bush walks and boat trips. Your final day on safari can be spent out on safari activities, relaxing by the pool or sitting on your private deck soaking up the magical sounds and sights of the South African bush. All meals are included and the incredibly high standards of food and drink you will have become used to continue in these spectacular surroundings. Day 13
Day 13: End of Tour After breakfast you’ll be transferred back to the entrance of the reserve where you’ll collect your vehicle. From Amakhala Game Reserve you’ll drive for 45 minutes to Port Elizabeth for a domestic flight to Cape Town and then you’ll take your international flight back home.
