Day 1
Day 1: Arrival in Cape Town & Collect your Keys Upon arrival you’ll collect your hire car and then you’ll drive to your beautiful accommodation in the centre of the city. This afternoon you may wish to explore Green Market Square, the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront, Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens, or you can hike to the top of Lion’s Head. Day 2
Day 2: At Leisure in Cape Town Depending on your personal preferences, today you can either summit the iconic Table Mountain in a rotating cable car for panoramic scenic views of Cape Town, explore the stunning Atlantic Seaboard beaches, say hello to the famous African penguins at Boulders Bay in Simon’s Town, visit community projects, craft markets, restaurants and “shebeens” during a tour of Langa township, or take an educational tour of Robben Island and the fascinating District Six museum. Day 3: At Leisure in Cape Town Today you’ll have another full day to explore Cape Town and the surrounding area. We recommend that you visit Cape Point which is located at the tip of the Cape Peninsula, 60 km south-west of Cape Town. Here you can admire the breathtaking ocean and mountain scenery, walk the shipwreck trail and learn about the maritime history of Cape Point, spot cape mountain zebra in the Cape of Good Hope Nature Reserve, or take the Flying Dutchman Funicular to see the old lighthouse. Day 4: Cape Town to Franschhoek After breakfast you’ll leave Cape Town behind and drive to the picturesque town of Franschhoek in the heart of the stunning Cape Winelands. You’ll spend two nights here where you’ll stay in an exquisite guest suite at an award-winning winery. During your time in Franschhoek you can explore the local vineyards on a wine-tasting tour, indulge in a luxury spa experience and enjoy gourmet meals and exquisite wines at Franschhoek’s many amazing restaurants. Day 5
Day 5: Enjoy the Winelands Today you’ll have a full day to enjoy Franschhoek and the surrounding mountains, valleys and villages. Franschhoek offers some of the most breathtaking walks and hikes in the whole of South Africa and if you’re feeling energetic we recommend hiking the Franschhoek Pass. From here you’ll have amazing views across the whole valley and there are lots of viewpoints along the way where you can stop and take photos - just watch out for the cheeky baboons! Day 6
Day 6: Franschhoek to Hermanus After breakfast you’ll leave Franschhoek and drive to the charming town of Hermanus where you’ll spend the next three nights. This coastal town has become synonymous with shore-based whale watching, given its sheltered coves in which Southern right whales come to mate and calve. The whales arrive in Walker Bay from June and stay until December and they can be viewed from the shore, or from boats or planes. If you’re visiting Hermanus during these months, we can include a whale watching activity in your itinerary – please ask your Wayfairer Travel Consultant about this. Day 7
Day 7: Enjoy Hermanus During your time in Hermanus you can explore the rugged coastline and walk along the beautiful beaches, or you can participate in numerous adventure activities such as surfing, mountain biking, horse ride, forest treks, zip-lining, sea or lagoon kayaking, abseiling, or you can join boat trips to Dyer and Geyser Islands to see sharks, penguins and seals. Day 8: Hermanus to Greater Kruger After breakfast you’ll return to Cape Town airport for a domestic flight to the Greater Kruger region. On arrival you’ll be met by a representative and driven to an exclusive camp situated in the Makalali Conservancy, a private reserve in the Greater Kruger region (90km west of Kruger National Park). Day 9: On Safari Today you’ll head out on an early morning game drive with an expert guide and tracker and you’ll have a picnic breakfast in the bush, before returning to your camp where you can relax by the pool before lunch. Day 10: On Safari Today you’ll enjoy morning and late afternoon game drives where you’ll have a chance to spot elephant, lion, leopard, buffalo, white and black rhino, hippo, cheetah, crocodiles, hyenas, wild dog, zebras, giraffes, and several species of buck. Day 11: Greater Kruger to Mozambique Beach After an early breakfast you’ll be driven to Johannesburg airport where you’ll take a flight to Vilankulo on the coast of Mozambique. You’ll be met on arrival and driven to your luxury accommodation where you’ll spend the next four nights. Overnight: Mozambique Meals: (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner)
Day 12
Day 12: Relax on the Beach Today you can relax and sip cocktails by the infinity pool or sunbathe on the stunning palm fringed beaches of Vilankulo. Or you may prefer to participate in adventure activities such as snorkelling, diving, wake boarding, kite surfing, windsurfing, fat biking, horse riding and canoeing on the Govuro River. Day 13
Day 13: Relax on the Beach Today you may wish to completely relax or you can enjoy excursions such as a boat trip to nearby islands where you may be lucky enough to spot dolphins, whale sharks and endangered dugongs, a tuk tuk tour along the coast, a sailing trip on a traditional dhow or you can visit local villages and fishermen’s markets.
