Murchison Falls NP is the largest protected area in Uganda, occupies the space of 3840sq.km and here we find 76 kinds of mammals and 450 kinds of different birds. Huge herds of elephants and buffalo are common and lions are easily spotted. Many antelopes can be seen including water buck and Uganda Kob. Large herds of giraffe are a specialty, as Murchison Falls and Kidepo Valley are the only parks in Uganda where they can be seen. The park is very scenic and is bisected by the Victoria Nile. During boat trips to the base of the famous Murchison Falls there is an opportunity to watch out for a profusion of hippos, crocodiles and waterbirds, including the elusive and Shoe bill.
