This is one of the five largest lakes that are situated near the wetlands and accounts for only 20% of this unique lake found in western Uganda. It’s situated between the towns of Masaka and Mbarara, and it’s the only place where you can spot the impalas, antelopes as well as the Elands. There are also many herds of buffalos and Zebras in this national park.

Itinerary

Day 1

Lake Mburo

DAY 1;Transfer to Lake Mburo Natioal Park and game-drive. Have an early transfer (for a 4 1/2hr drive) to Lake Mburo Natioal Park, the ‘Zebra magnet’. Stop over and take photo poses at the equator and continue driving through Masaka. When entering the park, enjoy a landscape of vast savannah dotted with acacia and shrubs. Head for the lodge for check in and lunch. In the late afternoon go for a game-drive for views of zebras, topis, warthogs, cape buffaloes and impalas. Overnight in Rwakobo Rock (midrange) or Mihingo Lodge (luxury) [depending on budget.]

Day 2

DAY 2;Early morning safari walk and Mabamba Swamp. Get up early for a safari walk to visit the hyenas den (chances to see leopards, zebras, waterbucks, birds and buffaloes in their day break jungle life) Go back to the lodge for breakfast before starting the drive towards Kampala. Make a stop along the way by the famous Mabamba Swamp for the prehistoric Great Shoe bill Stork, the swamp is also a host for many water birds. After spottinf these fascinating birds, continue on to Kampala
