Itinerary

Day 1

Nairobi

Day 1 We depart from Nairobi at 0600hrs ( latest) by road and arrive in Nanyuki at 1030am where we have lunch. At 11.30hrs we shall depart from the Sirimon Park Gate. After a few formalities at the gate, the easy afternoon trek starts to help in acclimatization. Overnight at the Old Moses (3300m) in the high altitude . By end of the day we will have done 5hrs of walking.

Day 2

Day 2 Starts at 0700Hrs Ascend the Sirimon Track to Likii North Valley, in this beautiful valley below the subsidiary peaks of Teleki and Sendeyo, two ancient parasitic vents of the main peaks.(3990m). Climb out of the North Valley and into Mackinders Valley, one of the broadest valleys on the mountain with many giant groundsels. We camp at Shiptons Cabins of the Mackinder’s Valley, just below the main peaks of Batian and Nelion (4,300m) By end of this day we shall have done 8hrs of walking (leisurely) .This will be a true taste of patience, endurance and determination.

Day 3

Day 3 Starts at 0200Hrs. The early start enables us to reach the Peak at Sunrise. Alpine ascent to the highest peak, Point Lenana (4985m) en route up the north face little used by tourists. Four hours of stiff walking to the summit. This will be the most challenging bit of the mountain trek and will require a strong mind to reach the summit. At around 0730hrs we start to descend back to Shiptons Camp. The rest of the day shall be spent resting at the camp having conquered Mt Kenya (Point Lenana)

Day 4

Nairobi

Day 4 Starts at 0800Hrs We shall leave Shiptons Camp and start our 4 hours walk out of the Park. We shall have a stop over at Old Moses where we shall have lunch. We shall be met by our van at the gate and head back home with a stop over in Nanyuki. We shall leave Nanyuki at 1300hrs for Nairobi to arrive late in the evening.
