Itinerary
Day 1
Arusha | Kilimanjaro
Day 1: On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Arusha, Infinite Kayak Adventures representatives will meet you and take you to Rivertrees Lodge – a luxurious converted old coffee farm a half an hour from the airport. This beautiful resort was the former home of the lodge owner (who is related to the Von Trapp family). There is a pool as well as pleasant grounds to walk around, monkeys in the trees and massage and WiFi facilities.
Day 2
Tarangire
Day 2: After a leisurely breakfast on the terrace drive to Tarangire National Park and stay at Tarangire Safari Lodge. View animals on their way to the river while sipping drinks from the veranda where you can also watch the sunset before heading off to dinner.
Day 3
Tarangire
Day 3: Spend a second day exploring Tarangire and all the wildlife there is to see – Your experienced guide will take you to the best places to see the Elephants, Cape Buffalo, Lions, Giraffes and Zebras and Wildebeest and perhaps a Leopard or Cheetah.
Day 4
Arusha | Tarangire
Day 4: Say goodbye to Tarangire and return to Rivertrees in Arusha. This will be your chance to prepare for your climb… your guide will brief you, check your gear, work out if you need to hire anything and answer any last minute questions. If timer permits there may also be time to do some local souvenir shopping or visit a Maasai village.
Day 5
Kilimanjaro
Day 5: You will be driven 1 hour into the foothills of Mount Kilimanjaro to begin your 7-day bid on the Rongai route up the mountain.
Day 6
Kilimanjaro
Day 6 – 10: Continue your Mount Kilimanjaro climb.
Day 11
Day 11: You will complete the last of the mountain descent then take a light aircraft from a nearby airstrip to the historic port town of Tanga on the coast of Tanzania and take a short drive to the elegant remote Fish Eagle Lodge where we will stay for the next several days. Owned by a Zimbabwean couple who have been in the hospitality business for decades, Fish Eagle Lodge, for now, is one of the best kept secrets in Tanzania. Fish Eagle is the only lodge on the bay and built on a beautiful point overlooking the Indian Ocean. Relax, take a swim in the ocean or sit out on your private veranda having tea. Your kayaking guide, Steve will be there to meet you and chat to you about tomorrows kayaking. Say goodbye to the snow in the morning and hello to the tropical surf in the afternoon!
Day 12
Day 12 – 14: Using Fish Eagle Lodge as our base each day we will explore the beautiful, remote bays, reefs and inlets of the area, possibly learning new skills along the way. You will see a part of Africa that until now no tourists have had an opportunity to see. Accommodating weather, tide and skill levels, we will picnic on deserted beaches, beach comb coral outcrops, explore remote peninsulas, paddle mysterious mangrove creeks, snorkel, and visit traditional fishing villages.
Day 15
Kilimanjaro
Day 15: After a leisurely morning and a chance to say your goodbyes one last time (and maybe a short paddle) drive back to Tanga your flight back to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your flight home. For dates, costs, arrangements and further information contact us using our online email form.
