Safari summary

This is the ultimate in luxury safari. Be pampered every step of the way. Stay in accommodations that will make you never want to leave. Evoke the feeling of the time honored tradition of the luxury safari camp of yesteryear, when every comfort and detail was provided. The itinerary is also designed to put you in the best locations to view wildebeest migration in the famous Mara River area. This is one of the most stunning wildlife spectacles anywhere. It is nature at its most raw.
While most safaris stay in the north this safari also takes you to a different part of Tanzania to an area in the south with the largest park in Tanzania. Go where few safari travelers venture.

Itinerary

Day 1

Arusha | Kilimanjaro

Day 1:  On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport in Arusha, Infinite Safari Adventures representatives will meet you and take you to Rivertrees Country Inn, a wonderful converted old coffee farm a half hour from the airport. This beautiful resort was the former home of the lodge owner (who is related to the Von Trapp family). There is a pool as well as pleasant grounds to walk around, monkeys in the trees and massage and WiFi facilities.

Day 2

Tarangire

Day 2:  After a leisurely breakfast on the terrace, drive to Tarangire National Park 4 hours away and stay at Oliver’s Luxury Tented Camp. Once you stay here you will not want to leave.  This camp has huge multi-room tents, en suite bathrooms and a dining tent set squarely in the bush. This camp was built with love and sweat by the famous Tanzania guide Paul Oliver and still has his love of the bush stamped all over it. There is still the hallmark of excellent guiding for the night game drives and bush walks (one of only a few places allowed to undertake walks in big game country). As you drift off to sleep you may hear the sounds of lions nearby.

Day 3

Tarangire

Day 3:  Spend another day at Oliver’s Camp exploring Tarangire. Tarangire is excellent in the dry season (October) as wildlife is attracted to the Tarangire River. It has the second highest density of elephants in Africa and possibly the best lion and leopard opportunities in Tanzania

Day 4

Tarangire

Day 4:  Leave Tarangire and head up the Great African Rift Valley. Continue on up into the cloud forest of the Ngorongoro Highlands to stay at the out of the way Mysigio Camp. A more rustic simplistic camp than Oliver’s Camp- it is in the heart of Maasailand and offers the chance to interact with some of the tribes’ people of the area in a more authentic way then many places. Sit and chat with them, cook and eat goat, prepare medicine, dance, go for a walk with the Maasai warriors and elders.

Day 5

Day 5: Descend into the Ngorongoro crater floor itself for a game drive in one of the mostly densely packed wildlife areas in the world. In the afternoon, ascend the rim and return to Mysigio Camp for the night.

Day 6

Serengeti

Day 6:  Take a flight to the northern extent of the Serengeti and stay at the luxuriously appointed Sayari Camp. This remote corner of the Serengeti is visited by far less people and in October is perfectly situated to locate the wildebeest migration. If you are lucky there is a good chance of seeing them cross the Mara River as well as seeing the attendant predators they attract.

Day 7

Serengeti

Day 7: Explore the Serengeti and stay at Sayari Camp for the next 2 days. You will have your own private open-topped safari vehicle and along with a driver specialized in that area.

Day 8

Serengeti

Day 8:  Spend another day exploring the Serengeti at Sayari Camp.

Day 9

Nyerere (Selous) | Serengeti

Day 9:  Depart the Serengeti and fly to the largest game reserve in Africa – The Selous. Stay at Sand Rivers Lodge, set on the banks of the Great Rufiji River. You can go game driving in their open-topped safari vehicles, take a boat along the river and go for bush walks… or sit on your veranda watching the river meander by.

Day 10

Day 10: Spend another day enjoying the Sand Rivers. The camp manager and guides will discuss and arrange for you the best time to go boating, walking and game driving.

Day 11

Day 11:  Spend your last day on Safari at Sand Rivers. Enjoy another beautiful African sunset as you start to think of what you want to do on your next trip to Africa.

Day 12

Arusha | Kilimanjaro

Day 12:  Depart Sand Rivers and fly back to Arusha and Kilimanjaro International Airport and your international flight home. For dates, costs, arrangements and further information contact us using our online email form.
