NAIROBI - TSAVO WEST

Pick up at 6.00am and cruise through Mombasa Road for about 6 hours to arrive in time for lunch. In the evening, visit Mzima spring a key attraction consisting of 4 springs originating from Chyulu Hills. Mzima is one of Tsavo’s most popular wildlife attractions owing to its resident populations of hippos and Nile crocodiles. Mzima’s isolation makes both species dependent on its waters: other sources are too distant for them to reach by overland travel. Later you will return to the lodge.

Early breakfast then opt to do a full day game drive with packed lunch or go for morning and evening game drives. On a good day you are likely to spot the African big five and big cats as well as other animals. Tsavo West is also known for the “Man-Eaters of Tsavo,” a pair of lions that preyed on railway workers during the construction of the Uganda Railway in the late 19th century and for its red-dusted elephants, which get their distinctive color from the park’s fine red volcanic soil.

Enjoy a serene garden with views of the Ngong Hills, all of which are central to her famous memoir “Out of Africa”. Dinner and Lunch at own arrangement

After breakfast, you will have Guided tour of Old Town Lamu and UNESCO world heritage site. The town is characterized by narrow streets and magnificent stone buildings with impressive curved doors, influenced by unique fusion of Swahili, Arabic, Persian, Indian and European building styles. It is believed to be the oldest and best-preserved example of Swahili settlement in East Africa. Later you will return to the house and spend your afternoon relaxing Dinner and overnight

After breakfast, proceed to Takwa Ruins which are the remains of a thriving 15th and 16th century Swahili trading town before it was abandoned in the seventeenth century. The unique Friday Mosque with a large pillar a top the qibla wall is among the most notable features. This pillar is believed to symbolize the burial of a Sheikh below the wall. Later in the evening you will enjoy sunset dhow cruise where you will be able to witness the magical sunset of Lamu. Dinner and overnight
