Itinerary
Machame Gate to Machame Camp
After breakfast, transfer to Machame Gate for registration and briefing. Begin your trek through dense rainforest filled with giant ferns and colobus monkeys. The trail gradually climbs, offering your first taste of mountain air. Reach Machame Camp in the late afternoon, where porters will have prepared your tents. Enjoy dinner and rest as you prepare for the next day.

Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Leave the rainforest behind as the landscape changes to moorland and heath. The trail becomes steeper, offering spectacular views of Kibo Peak. Cross rocky ridges and open plateaus while adjusting to the increasing altitude. Arrive at Shira Camp in the afternoon and enjoy panoramic mountain scenery. Rest, hydrate, and acclimatize.

To Lava Tower to Barranco Camp
Today is an important acclimatization day. Trek toward Lava Tower at 4,600 meters, allowing your body to adjust to higher altitude. After lunch, descend to Barranco Camp, following the “climb high, sleep low” principle. Enjoy dramatic views of the Barranco Wall and surrounding glaciers. This day helps prepare your body for summit night.

Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Begin the day by climbing the famous Barranco Wall — a rewarding but manageable scramble. Once at the top, enjoy breathtaking views across the mountain. Continue trekking across valleys and ridges toward Karanga Camp. The shorter hiking day allows extra time for rest and acclimatization. Relax and prepare mentally for the final ascent.

Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Trek steadily upward to Barafu Camp, your base camp for the summit attempt. The landscape becomes alpine desert with stunning, rugged scenery. After an early dinner, rest and prepare your gear for summit night. Sleep early, as you will begin your ascent around midnight.

Summit Day – Uhuru Peak to Mweka
Around midnight, begin your final ascent under the stars. Slowly climb toward Stella Point and continue to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. Witness an unforgettable sunrise above the clouds — a truly emotional and rewarding moment. After celebrating and taking photos, descend to Barafu Camp for a short rest, then continue down to Mweka Camp for overnight.

Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate
After breakfast, descend through lush rainforest to Mweka Gate. Receive your summit certificate and celebrate your achievement with your mountain team. Transfer back to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi for a well-deserved rest.
