Itinerary
DAY 1: Arrival at the airport
On arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) or Arusha Airport (ARK) which caters for domestic flights, African Big Cats Safaris representative will meet you and drive you to your accommodation in Arusha. Overnight will be at your accommodation awaiting for your incredible safari adventure to start on the following day.
Mtoni River Lodge
Day 2: Arusha to Sinya
Early morning after breakfast your private safari guide will pick you up and head to Sinya in the western Kilimanjaro. A private concession of about 600 square km, bordering Kenya at Amboseli National Park, offers spectacular landscapes with magnificent views of Mount Kilimanjaro, Mount Meru, Ol Doinyo Longido, and Ol Doinyo Orok, unique nature and cultural experience.
Kambi Ya Tembo
Day 3: Sinya (Western Kilimanjaro)
It is particularly compelling that Maasai “bomas” are sparsely scattered in Sinya, with a total population of no more than 2.000 people living in a huge area. Furthermore, these Maasai are still living the traditional way and are not used to the commercial relationship with tourists which is common in more visited areas. They are spectacularly dressed and follow all the traditional ceremonies. This is a Community Conservation Project benefiting the Maasai of Sinya.
Kambi Ya Tembo
Day 4: Sinya to Tarangire
Tarangire
Your private safari guide will pick you up from western Kilimanjaro to Tarangire. The Park got its name after the Tarangire River which runs through it. This ‘river of warthogs’ is the only source of water for wildlife in the region during the dry season. In places, the vegetation is quite dense, including elephant grass, acacia woodlands, and also lush groundwater forest.
Lake Burunge Tented Lodge
Day 5: Lake Manyara National Park
Lake Manyara
After breakfast, you will drive to Lake Manyara National Park. This is a relatively small but diverse park, 120km west of Arusha. The park’s namesake is a shallow, salt lake. Moreover it covers a large area of the park, flooding and drying with the seasons, and is home to thousands of flamingos and over 500 other bird species.
Marera Valley
Day 6: Serengeti National Park
Serengeti
After breakfast, you will continue towards the fertile highlands where wheat and corn are grown by the Iraqw people. Along the way, we’ll pass through the mist-shrouded rainforests of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area where you might be lucky enough to see baboons or even leopards and elephants in the dense undergrowth.
Embalakai Authentic Camps
Day 7: Serengeti National Park
Serengeti
No doubt that Serengeti National Park is the best-known wildlife sanctuary in the world, unequaled for its natural beauty and scientific value, it has the greatest concentration of plains game in Africa. But it is the migration for which Serengeti is perhaps most famous. Over a million wildebeest and about 200k zebras flow south from the northern hills to the southern plains for the short rains every October and November, and then swirl west and north after the long rains in April, May and June
Embalakai Camp
Day 8: Serengeti to Ngorongoro
Ngorongoro Crater | Serengeti
After breakfast, drive out of the Serengeti and on to Ngorongoro Crater for game viewing drive. This is a good day to look for the big “5”, Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant. The Ngorongoro Crater is one of Africa’s most famous sites and is said to have the highest density of wildlife in Africa. Sometimes described as an ‘eighth wonder of the world’, the Crater has achieved world renown, attracting an ever-increasing number of visitors each year.
Karatu Simba Lodge
