Safari summary
A two-night safari to Samburu from Nairobi offers an exciting immersion into Kenya’s rugged northern wilderness, beginning with a scenic drive through mountain landscapes into the semi-arid Samburu National Reserve, home to the unique “Samburu Special Five”—Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk. You spend two nights enjoying game drives along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where elephants gather to drink and predators patrol the riverbanks, all while experiencing the warm culture and hospitality of the Samburu people. The next day, you depart Samburu and travel south through lush farmlands to Nyahururu for a refreshing stop at Thompson Falls, where the roaring 74-metre waterfall offers beautiful views and photo opportunities. Your journey continues to Lake Nakuru for an overnight stay, with time for an afternoon or next-morning game drive in Lake Nakuru National Park, renowned for its rhinos, tree-climbing lions, rich birdlife, and the picturesque shores of the alkaline lake, before returning to Nairobi.
