Safari summary
This trip takes you to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park to see the endangered mountain gorilla. The eight-hour journey includes two stop-overs: one at the equator markings for photography after about two hours of travel. Imagine standing in two hemispheres at the same time! Another stopover, after about two hours, is at Igongo cultural museum for lunch and a museum tour. This presents an opportunity for you to learn about the Ankole and Hima culture known for keeping the endangered long horned cattle. Proceed to Bwindi as you enjoy scenic views of lush green hills dotted with homesteads and food plantations. Upon arrival, check in at your booked accommodation for dinner and overnight stay. You will track the gorillas the following day starting at 8:00am in the morning. Return to the lodge for lunch and if you still have some energy left, you could go for the optional community visit. Learn about the unique Batwa people who are former inhabitants of Bwindi forest. Learn about how they used to live alongside the mountain gorillas. Return to Entebbe the following day to catch your departure flight. We recommend you take the late evening departure flights or flying the following morning to allow room for any unexpected delays so you don't miss your flight.
