It’s an important hub of safari life and a great place to ease into the experience.

Arusha to Tarangire National Park

Tarangire

After breakfast, your safari guide will collect you from your accommodation and you’ll travel to Tarangire National Park, a scenic drive of about two and a half hours. The park is named after the Tarangire River, the region’s main water source during the dry season, attracting large elephant herds and other wildlife such as giraffes, bushbucks, and hartebeests, along with predators like lions and leopards. Lunch is enjoyed at a picnic site before continuing to Karatu.

After breakfast, you’ll drive into the cooler highlands of the Ngorongoro Conservation Area, with a stop to admire the breathtaking Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll then continue through the conservation area and enter the Serengeti from the south. Known for its vast grasslands and incredible wildlife, the Serengeti is especially famous for the Great Migration. Your accommodation for the next three nights is flexible, depending on the season and the migration’s location.

Hidden by steep volcanic walls, the crater is a pristine wilderness of grasslands, forests, lakes, and swamps, formed millions of years ago. Descending to the crater floor reveals dense wildlife, including wildebeest, zebra, abundant birdlife, and the rare black rhino. After exploring, you’ll continue to your accommodation in Karatu.

This morning, you’ll travel to Lake Manyara National Park, the final stop on your safari. Though compact, the park is remarkably diverse, set beneath the dramatic Great Rift Escarpment.
