Safari summary

Your guide picks you up in an open safari vehicle at your Phalaborwa accommodation at 16:00 and you set off for a sunset drive. Game viewing in the late afternoon can be very rewarding as this is the time of day when animals are at their most active. The predators begin to emerge for a night’s hunting, and their prey become ever more active and alert as the long African night approaches.

As the sun dips towards the horizon, we stop for sundowners…

We provide the sundowner and snacks. Nature provides the sunset.

Darkness descends quickly in Africa, and after our sundowners, we continue into the night…
The African night is a mysterious place where predators prowl and the darkness echoes with strange calls and stealthy rustlings. Aided by powerful spotlights, you have a good chance of seeing lions and leopards prowling under the cover of darkness. The night is also full of mysterious animals that you never see by the light of day… bush babies, genets, nightjars, and many others.

Our night drive leads us deep into the Park to where our dining experience awaits us…
A lantern-lit meal around a bristling campfire, surrounded by the African night and all its nocturnal sounds is an unforgettable dining experience. Delicious traditional food unique to a South African braai is grilled on open fires. A variety of meat and famed local boerewors (“farmer’s sausage”) is on offer, together with scrumptious vegetables and a variety of fresh salads. Dessert and coffee or tea complete the wonderful meal.

A cash bar facility and some excellent South African wines are also available.
After you have enjoyed your leisurely dinner, you will enjoy another night drive as we make our way slowly back out of the park. You will be dropped off at Bushveld Terrace Hotel around 22h00.
