Itinerary
Day 1
Day 1 - Lusaka Upon arrival at Lusaka International Airport (LUN) we welcome you and will transfer you to the lodge where we do the final preparations for the Kokomo Safari. Kokomo means wildebeest in the Lozi language. Accommodation in chalets. (D)
Day 2
Kafue
Day 2 - 3 - Chunga Area / Central Kafue National Park After breakfast we start our Kokomo Safari. We head west and enter the Kafue National Park through the Nalusanga Gate. The Kafue NP is the largest national park in Zambia. It is bigger than Slovenia. The lifeline is the Kafue River. The animals will concentrate near the remaining waterholes and along the river during the dry season. Everything can be found here except the rhino. We explore the area on game drves. An optional boat cruise is possible. Camping. (BLD)
Day 4
Kafue
Day 4 - 5 - Ngoma Area / Southern Kafue National Park We move on to the Southern part of the Kafue NP. This area is dominated by mature Teak forest, Kalahari Sands and the Nanzhila Plains, a big open area where Lion, Cheetah, Roan, Sable antelopes can be found. This area is home to the rare endemic Black-cheeked Lovebirds / Agapornis nigrigenis. We explore the area on game drives. Camping. (BLD)
Day 6
Kafue | Victoria Falls
Day 6 - 7 - Livingstone We will leave the Kafue NP and head to Livingstone, the tourism capital of Zambia. We have two nights here to have enough time to see the Victoria Falls, do Rhino tracking in Mosi-oa-Tunya National Park or just to relax. Accommodation in chalets (BLD)
Day 8
Zambezi
Day 8 - Sioma / Ngonye Falls National Park We drive along the mighty Zambezi River. Our next stopover are the Ngonye Falls at the Zambezi River. We will visit the Falls and going to explore the surrounding ares. Camping (BLD)
Day 9
Day 9 - Mongu Mongu, the capital of Western Province, is overlooking the Barotse Floddplains. We are getting some fresh supplies and refuel for the next part of our Kokomo Safari. Camping (BLD)
Day 10
Day 10 - 13 - Liuwa Plains National Park We drive across the Barotse Floodplains towards Kalabo. We register at the African Parks office and after crossing the Luanginga River we drive into Liuwa Plains National Park. The next days we are going to spend on game drives in search for the Wildebeest and Spotted Hyenas, African Buffalo and Lion were reintroduced into the Liuwa Plains National Park. Camping (BLD)
Day 14
Day 14 - Mongu We leave Liuwa Plain NP and head back to Mongu. Again it's time to restock and refuel. Camping (BLD)
Day 15
Kafue
Day 15 - 16 - Kafue National Park We head east to enter the Kafue NP again. We will explore the northern part of the Kafue NP. Camping (BLD)
Day 17
Day 17 - Lusaka Today we will reach Lusaka and will close our big circle around Western Zambia. We will finish our Kokomo Safari here. Accommodation in chalets (BLD)
Day 18
Day 18 - Departure Transfer to the airport and flight back home or continue to your next destination. What is included? - all accommodation - all transfers and activities as per itinerary unless marked optional - all meals that are indicated (B - breakfast, L -lunch, D - dinner) and tea/coffees - services of a Guide / Driver / Chef - all National Park fees and activities included on itinerary and transport in 4wd safari vehicle What is not included? - Visa fees, tips, curios - Insurance to cover for cancellation and curtailment, medical, baggage and emergency evacuation - Personal expenses (soft drinks, alcohol, bottled water) - Sleeping bag can be hired @ USD25 This safari has set departure dates.
