Machame Gate to Machame Camp

After breakfast drive to Machame Gate for registration. Hike 5-7 hours through dense rainforest where colobus monkeys leap in the trees. Stop midday for a picnic lunch in the shade, then continue through giant ferns and mossy paths. Arrive at Machame Camp in late afternoon, enjoy a hot dinner, and sleep in tents surrounded by forest sounds.

Start with a steep morning climb out of the forest onto a rocky ridge. Pause for a snack while enjoying first views of Mount Meru behind you. Summit to Uhuru Peak - Mweka Camp
then Mweka Camp and Exit Wake just before midnight for hot drinks and begin the steep climb under brilliant stars. Reach Stella Point and continue to Uhuru Peak for a breathtaking sunrise and photographs. Descend to Barafu for a late-morning meal, then continue through moorland to Mweka Gate with a stop for lunch. Collect your summit certificate and transfer to Moshi.
