Safari summary
This hike is a challenging but rewarding four-day traverse of Mount Kenya, starting with a pickup in Nairobi and a drive to the Sirimon Gate. The first two days are a gradual ascent, trekking through diverse landscapes from montane forests to moorlands. You'll spend the first night at Old Moses Camp (also known as Judmaier Camp) and the second at Shipton's Camp, which offers stunning views of the main peaks. The third day is the most demanding, as it involves a pre-dawn ascent to the summit, Point Lenana, to witness the sunrise. Afterward, you will descend via the scenic Chogoria Route, passing unique features like the Gorges Valley, before reaching Chogoria bandas for the final overnight. On the fourth and last day, you'll be picked up at Chogoria and driven back to Nairobi or the airport, completing the traverse of the mountain.
