Then to Kisumu city found on the Lake Victoria banks through to Kit Mikayi the legendary stone of the Luo tribe crossing over to Mbita point through Lake Victoria which is the second fresh water lake in the world. You will visit the Lake Islands like Rusinga, Takawiri and Mfangano with their mythological connotations. You will visit the walls of Thim lich, Sugar plantation in Awendo before driving to Maasai Mara game reserve in search of the plain game and the big five. You will also have an opportunity to visit the Mara river — the gateway of the annual migration of wildebeests

Itinerary

Day 1: Nairobi - Kericho

Depart Nairobi in the morning for a cultural safari holiday through Great Rift Valley with a stop over at the view point to have a glance at Mt Longonot and the breathe taking escarpment to reach Kericho, enjoy your lunch and then go for an escorted walk in the Tea Plantations. With a beautiful rolling hills carpeted in neat, bright green tea bushes as far as you can see, the climate here is perfect for Tea with rain falling almost every afternoon.

Day 2: Kericho - Kisumu - Mbita

Nairobi

After an early breakfast, depart Kericho via Kisumu city to Kenya’s most dramatic archaeological sites, a vast granite rock tower called Kit Mikayi. Situated in Kisumu district, Maseno division, East – Seme – location, Kit – Mikayi sub-location, Kangeso village, Kadol clan. The rock which is about 70 to 80 ft tall is located 30kms Far East of Kisumu city and 1km from of Kisumu Bondo road. We proceed to Lwanda K’Otieno for an onward ferry transfer to Mbita for overnight in a budget hotel.

Day 3 Mbita - Rusinga Island tour

Serengeti

Depart the hotel with your picnic lunch and drive past the course way to enter the famous Rusinga Island, an austerely pretty Island with a single dirt road running around its circumference. You will visit the archeological site where Dr. Mary and Louis Leakey found the skull of Proconsul Africanus and also visit Tom Mboya’s mausoleum, a civil rights champion, trade unionist who was gunned down in Nairobi in 1969, Lunch at a convenient place then drive back to Mbita for Overnight.

Day 4 Takawiri and Mfangano Islands

Depart in the morning to enjoy a ride in horse power engine boat past the two tiny Islands to the beautiful Takawiri Island with shinny white sands. Islands are settled by Abasuba tribes who are Bantus believed to have come from Uganda over 200yrs ago. Further ride to Mfangano Island with geometric rock paintings at Mawanga cave. After learning the wonders of the two rocks, have lunch then ride back to Mbita - optionally hike Gembe Hills for a view of the beautiful isles of Lake Victoria.

Day 5 Mbita - Thim Lich Ohinga Site

After breakfast, drive through Sindo to have a glance at the most magnificent Ran’gwa hills with very fertile land for agriculture. continue to Nyandiwa and onto the amazing site of Nyamgondho Site. After lunch we move to Kadem through Lwanda Magwar, a unique architectural stone structure situated in Migori. Thim Lich Ohinga in luo means “frightening dense forest or scary jungle” was occupied after Bantus were driven away by Kadem who are the present occupants of the area around Thim Lich.

Day 6 Thim Lich Ohinga - Awendo

Thim Lich Ohinga – Rapogi – Awendo After breakfast, leave Thim Lich through Rapogi. Awendo is a Sugarcane town where life revolves around sugarcane growing and sugar making. We will have an opportunity to visit Sony Sugar Company to get to learn how sugar is processed and to amaze at the big sugar plantations. We will then move to Awendo town to check in for our accommodation in a budget hotel, dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7 Awendo - Maasai Mara

Masai Mara

Awendo – Kilgoris – Lolgorien – Maasai Mara After breakfast in the busy town of Awendo, you will drive to Kilgoris passing through Maize and Sugar plantation, amazing at the beautiful landscape of Nandi and Kipsigis tribes to enter the famous Maasai Mara with an en-route game drive to your campsite, picnic lunch en-route, dinner and overnight.
