Arusha to Tarangire National Park
Tarangire
Your group safari begins with a 7:30 AM pickup from your Arusha hotel, followed by a 2.5-hour drive to Tarangire National Park. Known for elephants, baobab trees, and the Tarangire River, the park offers great wildlife viewing. Enjoy a full-day game drive with a picnic lunch, spotting lions, zebras, giraffes, wildebeest, buffalo, and many birds. In the late afternoon, depart the park and head to Karatu, a highland town near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area.
Karatu(lodge or campsite, depending on package)
Karatu to Ngorongoro Crater
Ngorongoro Crater
After an early breakfast, you’ll drive to the Ngorongoro Crater. You’ll descend 600 meters into the crater for a half-day game drive. This is one of the best places in Tanzania to see wildlife in a compact area. Look out for black rhinos, hippos, zebras, lions, hyenas, and flamingos around the lakes. You’ll have a picnic lunch at a scenic spot near a hippo pool. After lunch, the group will begin the drive back to Arusha. Drop-off will be at your hotel or the city center.
